Sheraton Soma Bay Resort

Sheraton Soma Bay Resort is a large chain resort located on a lovely stretch of sandy beach in Soma Bay. Its rather dramatic architecture is inspired by Luxor's impressive Karnak Temple -- starting with the two large Egyptian stone sculptures at the resort's main entrance. The grand lobby continues the Karnak Temple theme with large pillars lining the center of the high ceilings. More large stone sculptures and stone walls with hieroglyphics can be found throughout the resort. The restaurant areas are welcoming, with both indoor and al fresco seating options. However, some of the features, including the fitness center, spa, meeting room, and kids' club, are looking tired and could do with a bit of freshening up. Overall, the atmosphere is relaxing with the wide array of features attracting all sorts of travelers, including couples, honeymooners, business travelers, and families.

Sheraton Soma Bay Resort is located on an 800-meter stretch of sandy white beach on the eastern shores of the Red Sea. The location is a bit secluded with only other resorts and hotels in the nearby vicinity, though this makes for a peaceful and relaxing environment. Soma Bay is a popular spot for water sports and reef diving which are both offered by the hotel. The Orca Dive Club is a seven-minute walk away. The Marina, with a handful of restaurants and shops, is a 15-minute walk away. The Cascades Championship Golf Course and The Westin Soma Bay Golf Resort & Spa are both within a 15-minute drive. Port Safaga is 45 minutes by car and the city center of Hurghada is just over an hours' drive. There's a free shuttle taking guests between the other Soma Bay resorts. The Hurghada International Airport is about a 55-minute drive from the hotel.

The 326 rooms at Sheraton Soma Bay Resort feature a neutral color-scheme, with slightly outdated interiors. The rooms are light and spacious with tiled floors, cream walls, light wooden furniture, white linens, quaint framed-artwork, and patterned curtains. Comfortable wicker chairs with lightly-colored checkered cushions make the rooms more comfortable. The suites include a spacious lounge with dining area as well as small kitchenettes with burners. Amenities in all rooms include air-conditioning, ceiling fans, flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, free bottled water, telephones, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms include shower tub combos (suites have walk-in showers and tubs). Hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and house-brand toiletries are provided. Bathrobes and slippers are provided. Guests staying in the Beach Suits and Soma Bay Villas have exclusive access to a private pool area. All rooms and suites feature a private furnished balcony or terrace; some with sea views. 

Features are well-rounded. All rates include a buffet breakfast, with an all-inclusive option also available. There are 10 restaurants and bars, with the main restaurants being L'Abydos Brasserie (for breakfast and dinner), L'Emporio Ristorante (for dinner), and Copper Crescent Grill (for lunch). The bars are scattered throughout the resort, mostly offering a variety of cocktails and other beverages. There's a pool bar (Al Farafra Oasis Pool Bar) and beach bar (Beach Hut). A large outdoor swimming pool with shallow areas for kids and surrounding sun loungers and parasols is available.

There's a small fitness center, with slightly dated TechnoGym cardio and weight-training equipment. Water sports and activities, like volleyball, snorkeling, and surfing, are on offer at the beach. A basic spa is available, with a massage room and sauna. Guests are also encouraged to visit the Thalasso & Wellness Center at The Cascades; which there is a free shuttle to. Kid-friendly features include a daily kids' program, babysitting services, playground, shallow kids' pool, and an all-inclusive dining program. Large meeting and event spaces are available, catering for up to 515 guests. Wi-Fi throughout the property and on-site parking are free.
