Apartamentos Cordial Mogan Valle

The two-story, brick-red facade of this apartment complex is rather simple, but inside the welcoming lobby has a surprisingly chic feel. It has multiple seating arrangements of contemporary couches, crushed-velvet chaises, and mural walls with a colorful plant motif. However, unlike the lush tropical gardens of its neighboring sister hotel, Cordial Mogan Playa, the grounds mainly consist of bland apartment blocks connected by open walkways, stairwells, and elevators. The sheer size of the complex means it's easy to get disorientated walking between the property's spread-out facilities. Still, communal areas -- that include several swimming pools and a splash park -- are very well-maintained. Clientele leans toward couples and families with younger kids, instead of noisy groups, making for a generally relaxing and friendly ambience.

The hotel is built into the hillside of Puerto de Mogan -- a scenic tourist resort and quiet fishing village on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria. While the immediate surrounds is mostly other hotels (including sister property Cordial Mogan Playa next door), there is a shopping mall a few minutes' walk away with a supermarket and restaurants. Additionally, a 10- to 15-minute stroll down a pleasant promenade leads directly to a handful of beachfront bars and eateries overlooking a sandy cove. A few minutes further on is the marina district, which has charming traditional houses, fishing quays, and quaint cafes. As this is one of the more remote spots on the island, the hotel is around a 45-minute drive from Gran Canaria Airport. 

The Cordial Mogan Valle has just over 300 one- and two-bedroom apartments, all of which are bright and have simple, modern furnishings. Their open-plan, high-ceilinged living spaces include sofa beds and small flat-screen TVs, plus adjacent dining tables and kitchenettes with microwaves, toasters, mini-fridges, and two-burner stoves. Bedrooms are basic but well-presented, featuring tan linens, teal throw pillows, and closets with safes (for a fee). All apartments extend to spacious terraces with tables, chairs, and sun loungers, plus most enjoy valley views (those on the northern end overlook a neighboring hotel). These also have outdoor showers to cool off. Mosaic-tile bathrooms have marble countertops, shower/tub combos, wall-mounted hairdryers, and minimal toiletries; some fixtures are showing signs of wear. In-room Wi-Fi is free but can be spotty. 

There are plenty of facilities for both adults and children at the Cordial Mogan Valle. The three outdoor pools are lined with loungers and tropical plants; one of the pools is designated as a quiet area and another has a separate kiddy pool. There's also a splash park for children that includes a shallow area and section with several water jets and fountains. Additionally, there are a playground and kids' club. The hotel's spa features a floatation grotto, as well as sauna and steam rooms, a whirlpool tub, and a range of massage and body treatments; entry is not free, but the charge is reasonable. Besides a small gym, the hotel does not provide any sports facilities. 

The hotel has multiple dining plan options for guests not using their kitchenette. The main buffet restaurant is open for all three meals and serves a decent buffet breakfast of hot and cold items, though it can get busy at peak times. Additionally, there's an a la carte Tex-Mex restaurant open for dinner, as well as a pizzeria and snack bar. Cocktails are served at the poolside bar and the lounge bar, which has live evening entertainment.
