Three Corners Fayrouz Plaza Beach Resort

Set on lovely beachfront grounds full of green lawns, palm trees, and pretty flower beds, this all-inclusive resort attracts mainly Europeans seeking a beach vacation. Sand-colored blocky architecture reveals polished interiors that are clean and pleasant, but lack character and are a bit dated. A large and attractive outdoor pool takes center stage and is the focal point where many guests spend most of their time, though there's also a lovely beach dotted with sunbeds shaded by thatched umbrellas. Though this resort bills itself as a five-pearl property, it's far from a luxury rating with its dated interiors and bland rooms, but it does offer a great variety of features and activities that draw couples and families with kids alike. 

The hotel is set on lovely beachfront grounds overlooking the Red Sea, close to the Marsa Alam International Airport, which is about a 15-minute drive away. There's nothing within walking distance, and little in the immediate area apart from the Port Ghalib Marina. Here, guests can find restaurants, bars, and banks about a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The resort town of Marsa Alam is about a 50-minute drive south. 

Rooms here are simply styled and fairly lackluster in terms of decor, but they're clean and pleasant. White walls and tile floors are the backdrop to traditional wooden furniture and some colorful accents like curtains and bed runners that top white bedding. All rooms open onto private furnished balconies -- some of which have sea views, while others overlook the gardens or pool. 

Rooms are fairly spacious, with entry-level Superior Rooms starting at 300 square feet (28 square meters). The largest Honeymoon Rooms are 365 square feet (34 square meters). All units have seating, like armchairs and desks. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, electronic safes, and air-conditioning. Family Rooms add sofa beds; interconnecting rooms are also available. 

Bathrooms are fairly standard, but could use with some updates. Large sink vanities provide plenty of storage space, but showers are old and provide hand-held shower wands. Bathrooms are also equipped with magnifying mirrors, wall-mounted hairdryers, and toiletries.

One of the highlights here in terms of features is the main pool, which is large and attractive and offers loungers and umbrellas that line the pool deck. There's also a hot tub, as well as a poolside bar, while families with kids are catered to with a kids' pool. The hotel's lovely stretch of sandy beach offers an alternative to pool time, and the shore is lined with sunbeds shaded by thatched umbrellas. A long wooden jetty is great for snorkeling or diving, plus there's a dive center.

Dining-wise, there are five restaurants on-site, including a main buffet restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as hosting themed nights. Other restaurant choices include a Belgian a la carte restaurant. Note that all-inclusive rates cover all meals, snacks, afternoon tea, and domestic alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, but fresh juices, specialty coffee, imported items, and minibar selections are not included. The hotel also has five bars, including pool and beach bars.

A number of activities are available here (some incur fees), including horseback and camel riding, beach volleyball, soccer, boccia, archery, aerobics, and water polo. There's a fitness center equipped with various cardio machines and weights. Spa facilities include a sauna, steam room, and a hot tub. Various treatments are available, including massages and facials, plus there's a beauty and hair salon on-site.

Families are catered to with a kids' club (for ages 4 to 12) that organizes various activities like face painting and hosts themed days. An animation team provides day and evening entertainment, and there's an outdoor amphitheater for evening shows. Other amenities include a couple of different shops, including jewelry, fashion, herb, and souvenir shops. Wi-Fi is free, but the connection is weak.
