Common Name The Tiger-Like Stanhopea

Flower Size to 8" [to 20 cm]

A cool to warm growing, Mexican, medium sized, epiphytic species found at elevations of 600 to 1700 meters with ovoid, slightly compressed, dark green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, elliptic, petiolate, dark green leaf that blooms on a pendulous, 2 to 8 flowered, 6" [15 cm] long inflorescence that is subtended by large, chartaceous bracts, and carries large, fragrant sweet scented flowers occuring in the sumer and fall.
