Gossip singer Beth Ditto has revealed that their new album ‘A Joyful Noise’ sounds “grown-up and sad”.
The band are set to release the album, which will be their fifth studio effort, this May and in an interview with the BBC, the frontwoman said that it was more mature than their previous efforts.
She said:
It sounds grown-up and sad. I love sad songs. They say so much. I love country music but even the happy songs sound really sad.
‘A Joyful Noise’ will be the Gossip’s first album since their 2009 effort ‘Music For Men’. You can hear the first single from the record, ‘Perfect World’, by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.
The LP has been produced by Brian Higgins of pop production company Xenomania and Mark Ronson. Speaking about working with Ronson, Ditto told NME: “One of our most common bonds was that we both loved big voices, church voices. He loves country music, which is a big deal to me because, you know, in terms of things I love, country music is probably number one, then it’s punk and hip-hop.”
