DEATH NOTICES Obituaries Mitchell Services WOODSIDE- Services for Rodney Mitchell 50, of Woodside, will be this afternoon at 1 at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Dover. Mr. Mitchell was dead on arrival Saturday at Kent General Hospital, Dover, after his car went off the road, hit two trees, bounced back and hit a concrete drain pipe in a one-car accident on Kent 195 near Dover.

He had worked for 31 years in the shipping and receiving department of International Playtex in Dover. He owned several racehorses which he raced at area racetracks. He is survived by his wife, Jerry; three sons, Rodney Phillip and Kenneth, all of Woodside; three daughters, Kathleen Davis of Smyrna, Karen Wyatt of Smyrna, and Marylin at home; four brothers, Wilmer and Robert of Greensboro, Vernon of Henderson, and William of Wilmington; a sister, Rosetta Mitchell of Smyrna; two half-brothers, Paul McMullen of Smyrna, and Sonny McMullen of Greensboro, and six grandchildren. Kapela GLEN BURNIE, Md. Memorial services for Anthony J. Kapela, 52, of Glen Burnie, formerly of Wilmington, will be this morning at 11 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, 408 S. Harrison Wilmington.

Mr. Kapela died yesterday in North Arundel Hospital, Glen Burnie, after apparently suffering a heart attack at his home. He was a car. salesman for the past 20 years in the Glen Burnie and Wilmington areas. He left Wilmington in 1965.

He is survived by his wife, Claire R. of North East; two sons, Michael J. of Wilmington, and A. Joseph III of North East; his mother, Mary Kapela of Wilmington; four sisters, Betty Clauss of Wilmington, Sophia Manista of Wilmington, Cecilia Kelly of Sanibel Island, and Mary Teller of Baltimore. His body will be donated to science.

Rev. Walter S. Spencer ELKTON, Md. The Rev. Walter S.

Spencer, 78, a retired Baptist pastor, died Sunday in Union Hospital, Elkton, after a short illness. He lived with his wife, Nella Kite Spencer, at 105 Locust Lane, Elkton. Rev. Spencer retired several years ago after 30 years as a pastor with the Southern Baptist Conference. He had served several churches in the Portsmouth, Ohio, area.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six sisters, Carrie Mikell of Calumet City, Decemma Norris of Danville, Zenna Taylor of Asheville, N.C., Anna Gross of Elkton, Agnes Johnson of Newark, and Denton Williams of Elkton. Services will be this afternoon at 2 at the Hicks Home For Funerals, Bow and Stockton streets, Elkton. Burial will be in Fogartyville Cemetery, Bradenton, Fla. Charles L. W. Preston, 68, of 3 Manassas Drive, Elkton, was dead on arrival Sunday at Union Hospital after a heart attack at his home. Mr. Preston moved to Elkton four years ago after retiring from his paint contracting business in Norwich, Conn.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; two sons, Robert and William, both of Norwich; three daughters, Barbara Saulkenham of Succasunna, N.J., Dorothy Watrous of Garden Grove, and Helen Waugh of Rising Sun; 15 grandchiland one great-grandson. Jarvis HARBESON Elizabeth V. Jarvis, 92, of Harbeson, died Sunday in Maple Grove Convalescent Home, Millsboro, after a short illness. Mrs. Jarvis' husband, Theodore died in 1955. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs.

Howard S. Clayton man dies from crash injuries Abbott Sr. of Georgetown and Mrs. Michael D. Groverman of Milford; a sister, Mary Marvel of Milton; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private. There will be no viewing. Jeanne Wright Shaffer LARGO, Fla. Jeanne Wright Shaffer, 72, of Largo, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, after a long illness. She moved from the Wilmington area to Florida about 16 years ago.

Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her husband, Walter J. II, a retired Delaware state police captain; two daughters, Lois Jeanne Rybolt of Hartsburg, and Georgina S. Townsend of Hockessin, a sister, Betty Hill of Jamestown, N.Y., and two grandchildren. Services and burial were yesterday in Clearwater.

The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1925 Lovering Wilmington 19806. Lila E. Shaw Lila E. Shaw, 77, half-owner of the old dry goods store in Wilmington, died Sunday at her home, 3037 Market after a long illness. Miss Shaw owned and operated the store at 408 W.

Sixth St. with her sister, Marion Shaw, for 15 years. They retired in 1955. She is survived by a brother, Robert T. of Wilmington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered tomorrow morning at 11 at St. Mary's Chapel of Cathedral Church of St. John, Concord Avenue and Market Street. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Clara M. Keen Clara M. Keen, 78, of 103 Wildel Minquadale, died Sunday at her home after a short illness. Mrs. Keen was a clerk for Greyhound Bus Lines Inc.

in Wilmington until she retired in 1964. Her husband, Russell, died in 1970. She has no immediate survivors. Services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Sharpley, where friends may call tonight. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Lorraine Robinson DELAWARE CITY Lorraine Robinson, 64, of 406 Adams died Sunday in the General Division, Wilmington, after a long illness. Mrs. Robinson is survived by her husband, Albert M. two sons, Albert M. Jr.

and Howard both of Collins Park; three daughters, Carolyn L. Hayes of Castle Hills, Peggy S. Myers of Elkton, and Ethel B. Penick of Idaho; two brothers, Joseph Blake of N.C., and David Blake of Wilmington; five sisters, Vanmeta of Chesapeake, Vera Austin of Ayden, N.C., Ruth Austin of Hatteras, N.C., Alethia Blake of Chicago and Ethel Goodwin of Beaufort; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jones, 82, of 1225 Woods End Road, Point Pleasant, formerly of Wilmington, died Saturday at Freehold Area Hospital, Freehold, after a long illness. Mr. Jones was an electrician. He worked for various contractors in the Wilmington area since 1942. In 1962, he retired after five years with Hatzel Buehler Electrical Contractors in Wilmington.

He moved to Point Pleasant in 1970. His wife, Letitia "Lettie" Jones, died in 1967. He is survived by two sons, Paul L. Jones of Bricktown, Lawrence J. Vernon of Point Pleasant; two daughters, Shirley Poore of Point Pleasant, and Mary Stradley of Wilmington; three sisters, Alice Farrell of Carbondale, Anna Thomas of Lehigh Acres, and Thelma Dietrich of Warwick, N.Y., and ten grandchildren.

Services will be this afternoon at 12:45 in Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, Wilmington, with burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park. Frances Derkach Frances Derkach, 67, of 10 Casimir Court, Van Dyke Village, formerly of New York City, died yesterday in the Delaware Division after a long illness. Mrs. Derkach's husband, Nestor died in 1970. She is survived by two sons, Nestor, with whom she lived, and Joseph of New York City; a daughter, Eva Zysk of New York City and four grandchildren.

Woman found dead on beach REHOBOTH BEACH An elderly woman was found dead on the beach near the Henlopen Hotel here about 8 yesterday morning, according to town police. Anne E. Kane, 79, of 14 Lake a teacher at Wilmington High School until 1966, was apparently taking a morning walk along the beach when for an unknown reason she fell and died, police believe.

"She liked to walk along the beach," said a town policeman, who added that police signs of foul play. Police said an autopsy was to be performed, but the results weren't available last night. Police said Miss Kane was wearing tennis shoes, a T-shirt, sweater and slacks. Because of the incoming tide, police initially believed her body had washed ashore. They later ruled out that theory.

Police said she had not been dead long before her body was discovered by a passerby. There are no immediate survivors.
