Games with Gold: Override: Mech City Brawl and Red Faction II are now free

Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members now have access to two more games as part of their subscription benefits, as the second wave of August's Games with Gold lineup has now landed. Override: Mech City Brawl is available to Xbox One owners, while both Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners - thanks to backward compatibility - can grab the classic Red Faction II.

Use the links listed below to claim the games directly. Be sure to log in to a Gold activated Microsoft account beforehand:

Override: Mech City Brawl (Xbox One)

No gears, no glory! Control gigantic robots and duke it out across fantastic cityscapes in this 3D mech-based brawler! Epic and explosive battles await with distinctive mechs in local and online versus mode, party co-op with two to four players, and a single-player campaign.

Red Faction II (Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

Twenty-second century Earth. Five years after the rebellion on Mars. For the last 15 years, Sopot, the corrupt dictator, has oppressed the people of the Commonwealth. His relentless pursuit of unification with the neighboring United Republic has left the country soaked in unnecessary bloodshed and poverty.

Defend your country as Alias, a demolitions expert, with the help of your five squad members, each specializing in their own method of destruction. Fight through diverse levels using vehicles, an arsenal of specialized weapons and massive explosives in your rampage to overthrow the government.

Portal Knights for Xbox One from this month's first Games with Gold wave is still available to grab for those who missed out on it, with the promotion ending on August 31.

The usual free Gold games rules apply to today's new duo too. Xbox 360 games claimed from a Games with Gold promotion will continue being playable even if the subscription is discontinued. However, claimed Xbox One games are only playable while the account has an active subscription.
