Charlotte Schleiffert: Tolerance Test
Rijksmuseum Twenthe
Enschede | NetherlandsIn the installation Tolerance Test, the whimsical and flamboyant fantasy creatures of Rotterdam artist Charlotte Schleiffert have gathered in a circle. This promises something. Will it be a ritual performance, a fraternal gathering or might it end in a murderous brawl?
Tolerance Test is a special, one-off installation that brings Charlotte Schleiffert's so-called large drawings into the spotlight in a piercing and hyper-tactical way. These larger-than-life large drawings are populated by hybrid creatures: people Schleiffert encounters on the street, virtuosically crossed with celebrities from film or television, or from photos in newspapers and magazines. They are grotesque types, born from collages of times, styles, cultures and genders.
