“Better than expected ”

Came here end of April. Weather was very rainy. Definitely not the hotels fault. We were dropped off about a five minutes walk away. The hotel is quite easy to find. Once at reception you'll need to pay your tourist tax and 2 euros deposit for your drink token which you get back on your return home. It's very quiet at night. No drunkeness or shouting. In April anyway. The trains are really quiet and don't disturb you at all considering the track was right outside our room. The WiFi is excellent and is in all the rooms. The rooms are sparsely furnished with no drawers or table. Just a wardrobe and 2 bedside tables. There is no hair dryer but you can rent one from reception. There is liquid soap, shower gel and shampoo provided. The cleaners come in every day. There's a good choice of spirits and soft drinks. The beer is Amstell. There's a choice to pay for branded drinks if you prefer. The bar staff are all lovely and work very hard. While we were here there were many Spanish pensioners but I don't think they're here throughout the year. Not in such large amounts anyway. If you've got young kids it's a bit of a struggle to keep them occupied if the weather is bad. There's a few games in the bar area such as pool, grab a toy etc but at 1 to 2 euros each could be quite costly. There's no English channel on the TV. There's a good choice of food although it's sometimes not warm enough. There's a microwave though. If you struggle to find something you enjoy you must be very fussy. All in all a nice hotel but I'd come later in the season if I came again.

It’s taken a while to post a review but feel it necessary to do so as some of the reviews are not fair at all, yes the bus drops u off at a random drop off but the walk isn’t far, was greeted in the early hours by a friendly face, our room was clean and tidy. Yes the pool isn’t ideal but with the beach a short walk away who cares! Head to Arubas for a great coffee and there’s loungers to hire near there. Absolutely no complaints about the food, you will not starve if u do then god help u, how do u survive on a daily basis. Take some euros for your cup hire for all inclusive and don’t drink the mini bar if u don’t want to pay the extra. If u want champagne and caviar then pay for champagne and caviar prices. Great value for money!!

After looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful for a 6 night break, my husband and I settled on the Sorra D'Or. Our budget was limited, we paid less than £500 for everything, all inclusive, luggage, transfer etc. I was a little concerned after reading some negative reviews, but I'm glad I read them as they gave us a few pointers so that we didn't fall foul of some less than positives about this place! Firstly, if you have a coach transfer, you're dropped off by a car park in the town with no directions as to how to get to your hotel, but this applies to a large number of hotels in Malgret de Mar!. Simply head towards the sea and turn left, follow the road until you see and underpass, there's a street on the right just after the underpass, keep walking, past the car park, then you'll come to a small square right by the train station and the Sorra D'or is there. There's a big sign on it's roof. There's very little sun around the pool area and the loungers get snapped up really quickly. It's no smoking around the pool area. The beach is very close, gritty 'sand' but there are no loungers there. We didn't have great weather (absolutely NOT the fault of the hotel) so lots of people tended to spend their time in the bar area, drinking maybe a little more than they would have done had they been able to lounge about outside!!! We had an issue with the room when we arrived (3am!!) but it was dealt with immediately and we were given a superior room, seaview, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Modern rooms with comfy beds. I found the food was outstanding. So much choice and well cooked. However, it's centred around pork and seafood which my husband doesn't eat but he always found enough to keep his belly full. Would we come to this hotel again? Yes and no! Hotel itself was lovely and brilliant value for money, but we're not really 'Spain' people (tend to go Turkey, Tunisia etc). It's definitely a great place to base yourself for travelling or if you're the type to go out wandering all day instead of lounging in the sun!
