The Japan Tourism Agency announced on January 17 that the amount of travel spending by visitors to Japan for the October-December period of 2023 was 1,668.8 billion yen. This is an increase of 37.6% compared to the same period in 2019. This means that spending by tourists visiting Japan has exceeded what it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. The total travel spending of tourists visiting Japan in 2023, announced on the 17th, will be a record high of 5,292.3 billion yen.
