Hardy to zone 2, Cesky Gold® dwarf birch adds both season-long color and texture to the landscape. Hybridized by Michal Andrusiv of the Czech Republic, this chartreuse-yellow shrub is easily shaped just like boxwood or privet. Use it as a short 2-3' hedge, foundation plant, or sculpted into a ball in a decorative container for the deck or entrance. The secret to success with Fairytrail Bride Hydrangea in the landscape is to site it so that it gets morning shade. This is critical in areas that are prone to spring frost. The plant is much hardier than Hydrangea macrophylla, but it does flower earlier, so morning shade protects the flower buds from frost burn.
