Our Lavandula series Vintro is bred to be grown either over winter or as a first year flowering crop. It is the perfect variety for sales in May with its insensitivity during winter and its early flowering. The short flower stems above the dark green and strong foliage are convincing. Our Area Manager, Stephanie Hugo, traveled back to her alma mater to inspire the next generation of horticulturalists. Learn more about her trip in the post below.
I traveled back to my hometown of Morristown, NJ to my high school the Academy of Saint Elizabeth's. St. Elizabeth's is the oldest all girls catholic school in New Jersey founded by the Sisters of Charity. The school held its biennial career day with the help of fellow alumni sharing their amazing career journeys. I was honored to be one of them! The first day was filled with memories rushing back walking in the doors. First introduction with the girls was sharing my love for flowers and detailing my career path along the years. The Pollinators Club hosted a lunch where the girls could ask me questions not only flowers but also share some laughs. Day 2 entailed even more girls wanting to learn about horticulture and the possibilities this interesting field of study has to offer. A nearby grower, Garden State Growers was so kind to donate plant material that the girls planted around in the gardens. Huge shoutout to my Syngenta Flowers colleagues for providing seeds for sampling and much more, thank you for your support. Even more humbling is that a scholarship was placed in my name to assist with girls further studying the sciences. What a trip and beyond grateful for what the Academy has instilled in me, WOW! #AcademyofSaintElizabeth #SyngentaFlowers #SWIFT #SeedYourFuture #Horticulture

This week, the greenhouses of our Young Plant Production site in De Lier, Netherlands, buzzed with fresh energy as we hosted 24 students from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU - Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet)! The students were excited to see the facility that is currently at its annual production peak to deliver young plants to growers across Europe. Here their nice comment following their visit: "It was a highly rewarding and enjoyable study visit at Syngenta Flowers! We've had the opportunity to observe the entire process from sowing, growing, gapping up and cleaning. Thanks to Syngenta for such a fascinating visit!" Good luck in your future career in agriculture! #AgricultureEducation #SeedYourFuture #GreenCareer #LoveYourPlantJob
