Maybe it is a Mega Drive port but it was made perfectly. The game is smooth, well animated, gives the player a free will of doing different things which does not happen often in a platformer. Nice graphics, though not squeezing all from AGA chipset, are enjoyable. Still the game, which I would mark as very good, has some sort of a let down - sometimes it gets a little boring...

The third episode of the JamesPond saga is the most console - style, in fact the Amiga conversion is directed by Mega Drive. There is no parallax that makes all the backs too similar to each other due to a perpetual starfield, also the fluidity is higher in the MD version. The Amiga version unfortunately has very embarrassing and unmanageable slowdowns in some cases. Better we have a clean sound, a superior chromatic approach and a missing animated sequence in the Sega 16bit machine. JamesPond3 remains a difficult platform to handle, takes time and dedication to be dealt with the best, to try.

In my opinion controls are better in the CD32 version and that raises the grade a bit. A decent jump and run in the vein of sonic and mario, sadly it has not much to share with its predecessors (7/10).

The animated intro sequence (which can also be seen on the CD32 version of Robocod) is very well done, in fact I can't be certain but it looks like it may have been created using traditional techniques, which makes a change to the fact that most CD32 animated introductions were created digitally.

Other than this, the game remains the same as it is on the A1200. However, I must admit that I prefer to play the A1200 version due to a slight difference in the controls; on the A1200 to make James Pond run instead of jog all you have to do is press the space bar, and he will stay in running mode until you press the space bar again. And for most of the game, it is much better to actually be running rather than jogging. However, on the CD32 version you have to hold down the red button to run. When you release the red button, Pond just jogs again, which makes the game significantly harder to control. I have the same issue with the Megadrive version.

Nonetheless the game itself remains one of my favourite platformers of all time, for it's great level design with loads to explore and lots of mini-quests alongside the main storyline to keep you playing for a long time!
