Great idea to have color cycling as a backdrop to the main play area! Way to kill everybody's eyes while they tried to play a crippled version of a great game with primitive colours. Luckily plenty of PD authors did a better job later on.

This primitive version of Tetris is not so bad. What's a shame is that they try to add some GFX stuff to justify the 16 bits releases (ST version is exactly the same), and it was not a good idea. The real big problem is that in this first Tetris game from Mirrorsoft, like in the one from Infogrames (and in a lot of Tetris games), is that you can't make slide down the current shape. You can just make it go down at once, and that really ruins the gameplay. In contrast, the music is really nice thanks to the great work of David Wittaker. The CPC version is better with the same graphics but not the ugly effects. The C64 version is just awful with uninspired music and obscure graphics out of phase with the game.
To be honest, this one is piece of history but it is clearly less payable than the Nintendo version that has been released 2 years later and made Tetris enter the gaming Pantheon. Try it just for its archeological value and nice musics...

Quite a lazy rendition of Tetris. Puzzle games does not desperately need good graphics but they don't deserve obnoxious color effects either. I am afraid developers and publishers were pretty aware that the name of the game would have sold pretty well and did not bother to do something better. Tetris is still playable but there are better alternatives on the Amiga than this first version (6/10).

Do people here not realize that this was the first version of Tetris on the Amiga?

They could have ported the c64 version (graphics included, especially the music). Stinky! 2/10

OMG Why they did that to the Amiga version? What a waste of a good game... A shame!

This is a bad version of Tetris and should be passed up. The background is not pleasing and actually becomes annoying and the puzzle is rather short. The lower third was not added making it a bit more difficult. The C-64 version is better than this one. 4/10

Definitely the most obscure version of Tetris I've ever seen... Slow, distorted shapes, unnecessarily mangled visuals, played awkwardly... Awesome title theme though, I note - that's the old Whittaker magic for ya. Damn near the only truly good thing about this conversion There was a documentary about Mirrorsoft and its battles between Alexey Pazhitnov (the game's creator) and Microsoft on the BBC sometime last year.

The first Tetris game to the Amiga. A 1987 quite exiting game. There is no landscape,as on the InfoGrames 1988 game. But,as one of my first Tetris game,I must say, that I enjoyed playing all time on my Amiga.

C64 version is still the best version of Tetris. This is poor.

I was disappointed that there were no fun background graphics (that appear on Infogrames's version). Controls are not very good. Thankfully, irritating graphic effect can be turned off by pressing some button. Whittaker's music is OK but not anything special.

Ok the concept is great because it was the first, but the controls and movement are so awfull that ruins the final product. Any PD Tetris game on the Amiga are better executed than this one...
And what they were thinking putting that continously flash like TV snow noise on the play area? Too much pain for your eyes if u play for a little time.

Other than being kind of an eyesore, this suffered quite badly from flawed controls and a general lack of polish. In other words, this wasn't Tetris. No way.

I had a disk copy program with a better version of Tetris running on it than this one...
