An excellent conversion of a true classic from the arcades. Some large sprites are really low-res and stretched, yet gameplay is clearly here and the game is exceptionally playable.
-1 point due to the missing in-game music.

@Bronstein: I see where you're coming from. It is a good conversion and a decent game. I guess not playing it until late on and then being blown away by stuff like Armalyte, IO & Denaris, I couldn't really appreciate it properly.

@Emperor Roscoe: But that's exactly the point! This game started it all, and until the end of the Commie's era, every horizontal shoot 'em up had to stand against this one. Gradius/Nemesis defined it's own genre, and it was almost perfectly converted to the Commie. That makes it a classic.

Immense gameplay and lot of fun to play, a glorious classic arcade, a very good conversion for commie an example of synthesis of what's the best in its genre. Mandatory

Was never impressed by C64 Gradius/Nemesis. By the time I'd purchased it as a budget re-release, there were already loads of better side-scrolling shooters out there.

Great conversion of one of the most important Arcade shooter in the video game industry.
But on the 64 this was beaten by far by masterpiece such as Armalyte, Katakis, Enforcer, Catalypse and many more.

One of the first and proably the greatest great side-shooter in arcade history.

An all time classic which is (at least in europe) much better known as "Nemesis" ... The precessor of "Salamander" ...
propably the best side-scrolling shooters next to Uridium ...
a MUST try
