Senecio serpens flower
Native to South Africa, Blue Chalksticks succulent does well here in Australia. It is a spreading succulent, 40 cm high with 10 cm long, fleshy, chalky and pencil-like leaves coloured green/blue/grey/silver. It forms a dense mat with leaves angled upward from the ground. The flowers as seen here are just 10 mm in diameter and usually appear through summer in to early autumn.
''Senecio serpens'' is a species of the genus ''Senecio'' and dwarf shrub from the family Asteraceae that is indigenous to southern Africa. It needs little water, and is thus one of the many plants suggested for cultivation in Australia.
