Beedrill
First Anime Appearance: Episode 004
First Manga Appearance: Red, Green & Blue Vol. 1 Round Number 12: Wake Up--You're Snorlax!
Luckily for Beedrill, although it does have several weaknesses and a lot to be desired from its stats, Beedrill has several redeeming qualities. Firstly, even though it looks like a Bug/Flying type, it is actually a Bug/Poison type, which saves it from that crippling 50% HP loss everytime it switches in. Now it only loses 25%, which is better, but not so much. However, Poison typing helps by absorbing pesky Toxic Spikes. 80 base Attack (Atk) is decent enough for attacking. 75 base Speed (Spe) is not bad, but not too good. However, 65/40/80 defenses aren't a lot to go on. Beedrill however has the right moves to cause pain for the opponent.
Toxic Spikes
Beedrill has access to Toxic Spikes, which allow it to set up. One turn of Toxic Spikes setup, and all Pokémon that switch in that are NOT Poison type get poisoned. 2 turns, and they get Toxic Poison condition, which takes away more and more HP the longer they are in. Knock Off helps by taking away the items of Pokémon, so that they are more vulnerable. U-turn is a scouting move. Pursuit is the last move, to kill off weakened Pokémon who decide to switch out. Another viable move is X-Scissor, which gives it STAB.
