It is pretty tolerant temperature wise. I would say it grows in intermediate to warm temperatures. Mine has been exposed to temperatures from the high 80s and low 50s.

That orchid would thrive here. Would you consider a division trade.? Not now, but after winter.

That's a beauty Darlene. I'd tried growing a bicolor without any luck. It was a very small plant to start, but did bloom! Put it outdoors for the summer and it didn't like our heat. good luck at the show! Certainly a blue ribbon winner in my book!

Very nicely grown plant! Hope my L. bicolor will look kind of like that one day. Mine is outside in the summer too, Sheila. It`s fine as long as you dunk the mount in the water bucket daily.

Is this particular Leptotes rare in the USA? The only Leptotes I have seen here in over 40 years of orchid growing is bicolor. Nicely grown! as for the blue ribbon I suppose that depends if the blooms are superior in form and colour etc.

Eve I'm located about 60 mi SE of San Antonio. Not an ideal location for growing outdoors. Over the years I've watched my daughter, before her my Mom grow plants outdoors (in Houston) that I just can't grow here. Summer is very hot arrid/ high winds. I will have a GH this year. Yeah!!!

Sheila, yes I remember how hard it was to grow ANYTHING in Dallas, I did not even try orchids outside. I am happy for you that you are going to get a GH. Here you would have to have a cooling system of some sort for the summer, I guess where you are as well?? So far I am still in the test phase of what I can or can`t grow my little shade house. That`s pretty exciting, I have several plants in bud now.
