Designed by architect Gaetano Koch, the Hotel Majestic Roma was inaugurated in 1889. Koch, who also designed the nearby building of the American Embassy, was one of the main interpreters of the way of living of the wealthy Roman middle class at the end of the 19th century. The Majestic Hotel was the first hotel built on the exclusive Via Veneto - area once know as the Villa Ludovisi.

The hotel's fame and fortune reached its peak during the Twenties, when high-society members used to choose this hotel for their stay in Rome. At The Majestic Roma, royal, prince & princess and show biz stars could find luxurious details together with the comforts of progress in addition to the thrill of being in a town of ancient civilization.

Carrara-Marble lobby, real antique objects decorated rooms and suites, while lounges were adorned with the richest among tapestries and furniture. Located on the 1st floor and named after musician Giuseppe Verdi, the ballroom was frescoed by Perugian artist Domenico Bruschi. Allegorical scenes depict the glory of the Roman Empire and that of the Italian Royal family, Casa Savoia.

During the Sixties, the hotel became the scenery of Fellini’s “Dolce Vita” for moviegoers all over the world.

In 1990, after an accurate restoration and technical upgrades, the hotel regained all of its past splendour. It is at that time that began the contemporary history of the Hotel Majestic Roma.

The Majestic Roma is a veritable jewel of neoclassic elegance, within walking distance from the Borghese Art Gallery and Gardens and the heart of the city shopping district, Spanish Steps and Via Condotti where all the major houses of fashion have their ateliers.
