ALL of Inverkip came together for a special weekend as Kip Fest returned for its second year.

The organisers of the smash hit event have told the Tele that this year’s edition was such a success they are already considering ways to bring it back for a third successive year.

People came from far and wide to enjoy the array of stalls and sessions put on by the village’s various community groups and organisations at and around Inverkip Hub.

The festival’s packed programme featured opportunities to try bowls and Zumba, face painting, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, a tea dance and a ceilidh, as well as laser tag sessions and the community centre’s own version of Soccer AM.

Martin Mulholland, who is the Inverkip Hub’s development worker, told the Tele the weekend of fun had been hugely enjoyed by all who came along.

He said: “It was a brilliant day start to finish.

“The weather was fantastic too.

“We had a chat after it was over and we’re hoping to go for funding again next year and bring it back even bigger and better than this year’s.

“We’ll have the community even more involved.

“I think everything being free was great for getting people along.

“The whole community joined together for it, basically everything that takes place in Inverkip was on display.

“We had help from a lot of brilliant volunteers and afterwards there were even more names put down to volunteer which will help in the future.

“It was a community even that everyone really enjoyed.

“Kevin Rodgers, who is our centre manager, put the committee together last year and it’s all just grown from that into this event.

“It was great day and I really hope we can bring it back next year.”

The event was organised by several prominent community groups, such as the Inverkip Community Hub, Inverkip Bowling Club and Inverkip Church, who have been helped by a four-figure award from Inverclyde Council’s Community Grants Fund.
