Jane and Rochester are back!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 👨🏻👱🏻‍♀‍🧔🏻

The heroine: Jane Mendoza - Nanny to Mr. Rochester’s niece, Paige. Jane is recovering from the events at the end of the first book. She is in love with Mr. Rochester but he is keeping her at a distance.

The Hero(es): Beau Rochester - his brother Rhys and his sister-in-law died and he was left to raise his niece, Page. After the events at the end of the last book, Paige has had a setback and has returned to the sullen grieving girl she was after her parents died. Beau is determined to keep both Paige and Jane safe.

The Story: There is possibly someone out there that has it in for Rochester and isn’t afraid to hurt others to get what he/she wants.

This book strays a bit farther from Jane Eyre than the first book, which had a lot of storyline correlations. Though there are still some similarities in this book to the original. I really like how Skye Warren took certain scenes or storylines and changed them into something totally different but based on the main themes of Jane Eyre. I won’t go into specifics, but if you have read both books you know what they are.

I also really liked the relationship between Jane and Rochester. There was plenty of chemistry between them and some scorchingly hot intimate scenes while keeping Rochester as gruff and brooding as ever. Jane Mendoza’s foster care background and her submissiveness keeps her well and truly apart from the wealth and abundance of the way Rochester lives and in turn makes her eerily similar to Jane Eyre.

The story itself was good and I liked the mystery and suspense of it all. Though like the first book, it seemed too short. I just wish more authors would write one longer book instead of a trilogy. I know it probably makes them more money to do it this way, but c’mon. When did this become the standard? I know most authors now do it this way, but seriously! Seriously! —can you tell I have been re-binging Grey’s Anatomy???.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Strict Confidence by Skye Warren made my heart to stop so many times, only to restart at a faster beat! This story was a maze of overwhelming and soul aching feels with wickedly sinful and delicious chemistry. I am obsessed with Jane Mendoza and Beau Rochester from every side.

We left reclusive billionaire Beau Rochester and the nanny of his niece Jane Mendoza trapped in his burning house over the cliff. Beau feels he cannot let Jane go because she is his sanity and shelter but he also feels that his love is toxic. Jane is utterly terrified and in love with her employer and the little girl. But ghosts of the past may be coming closer. Can love trump danger and pain?

This story was a tickling time bomb. I felt it will explode anytime and everything will be destroyed. And oh how spectacularly it did at the end..as the author left us with another heart stopping cliffhanger! Jane and Beau are light and dark. Beau has suffered so much tragedy and heartbreak and right now his focus is to protect Paige and Jane. Even if it means getting hurt again. On the other side, Jane has come from nothing and this family gave her a sense of belonging and being loved. But at the same time, her happiness is precarious because invisible enemies are circling them. Beau and Jane's connection became stronger than ever in this story. They have this undeniable and irresistible pull but it is also forbidden and dangerous. Beau's tortured love and his alpha charisma made my heart and soul melt. He has this larger than life, confident and intimidating presence to the world. His vulnerability and doubts were painted so beautifully in contrast. Jane is such a sweet and loving and adorable woman but she also possesses strength to take care of broken hearts while breaking down herself. Paige stole and broke my heart and I cannot imagine the level of grief she is going through. I cannot wait for the conclusion because right now the future is looking dark and twisted.

Strict Confidence by Skye Warren wrecked me with the suspense storyline and masterful portrayal of every single emotions.

This modern Jane Eyre retelling keeps getting better. Equally atmospheric and eery, the plot is brimming with stormy emotions, forbidden yearning, and a plethora of mysteries. Jane is like a butterfly pinned by Beau's formidable passion.

I was jumping with the need to find out what happened after that explosive cliffhanger in book one. Feelings run rampant along with fury and restrained love with this couple. Boss and nanny never had more obstacles to fulfill their soulful lust. Yes, that's what it feels like between Jane and Beau, every scene marked with epic sensuality. A giant fan is needed to douse the fire this story rouses.

It's more than that though. This relationship is alive with denied happiness and trust. He keeps pushing her away with cold deeds and cruel words, and sweet, brave Jane takes everything in stride even though she's bleeding inwardly with pain. There's a particular scene that I think deserves some punishment for it is incredibly hurtful the way he behaves towards her. Despite that evil moment, there's this powerful tug-of-war between the characters as they fight their impossible romance while also indulging in insanely hot sins of the flesh.

What's more, the secrets behind all the tragedies they are facing are surfacing in a most frightening way. I was really amazed at the creative turn of the homage to Jane Eyre's story. This is also a deep insight into trauma and bereavement from a little child and the reflection of it in a grown up that experienced something similar. There are many scenes devoted to the little girl Paige as she faces even more trauma, and how Jane and Beau deal with it with care and patience.

Not one chapter is free from strong emotion. Let alone that cliffhanger that poises so much threat and shock for everyone. Next book is a must!

I am just so in love with this modern take on the much beloved Jane Eyre- the perfect showcase of Skye Warren’s atmospheric, romantic and suspenseful story telling. In this second book of the trilogy, Skye continues to merge the sensual, erotic, and passionate flair that make her books so enticing with the gothic flair of the original story- with a few twists along the way.

Last we saw our melancholy and enigmatic hero Mr. Rochester and our courageous resilient nanny, they were on the precipice of a fatal battle with the raging flames engulfing the mysterious house on the cliff. Now facing the aftermath of the flames both physically and emotionally, Jane and Beau must figure out how to move forward, which proves complicated not only because of the needs of their ward and all the secrets but because their bond is still fragile and new.

This story expectedly deviates more from the classic’s architecture - though in ways that I found quite welcome (though one big element that was curiously absent in book one shockingly meanders into book 2). More gothic suspense than psychological romance, our original captivated with the foreboding but magnetic chemistry between the man and his governess, never letting the reader fully in on the full intimacy and nuances of a couple that survives jaw dropping mysterious and their associated emotional trauma. But, in this second of the series, Skye doubles down on the psychological romance- immerses us fully in the romantic tensions between a man who is at odds with two truths- that his love may be toxic to those he loves and that he needs their love like the air he breathes- and the woman who has finally found a home, a center, and how is at risk of losing it. It does me we get less answers, the action is slower, and the mystery is just bubbling under the surface waiting to boil over (and boil over it does), but the tradeoff is that we get to be mesmerized by the complicated, but tender, chemistry between our reluctant hero and his besotted nanny.

And I loved how intimate this story felt- the metaphysical struggle they both face in trying to understand how to move forward when their feelings and safety feel at odds. And it is a fresh and exhilarating take on the push-pull- two characters who knowingly love each other attempt to deny their own draw for the better of the other, and most importantly, to protect their young ward. Like the last story, I continued to love Skye’s take on her modern day Jane- equal parts wide-eyed innocence paired with a stoic fragility and resolute kindness that really just warms the heart. We see her confidence grow a bit here, but she’s still a lost soul- just desperate to find her place in the world, to find love. But the real power of the sequel is in exposing Beau- transforming him from the dark and mysterious Mr. Rochester into a vulnerable, perhaps even desperate, man. Where we once found him contemplative and secretive, mercurially affectionate, now we find him raw and exposed. No less magnetic- in fact, more so. It’s the beating heart of this man that drives this second story - the tender vulnerabilities that make us fall deeper in love, and desperately turning the pages. His evolution as a character, and what that means for his fragile but overpowering connection to Jane is the real substance of this story- and I’m loving how identity and home continue to play such a central role to this evolution of this tale.

The angst level is very high- and like our first book, Skye continues to infuse the tonal essence that builds that unsettling disquiet throughout the original. The dark sensuality, the gothic suspense, the foreboding melancholy still reign supreme. The mystery still looms large, but the psychological intensity still towers over any action- the narrative far more meta than fast paced action. Until, of course, our jaw dropping finale- when the questions and mysteries spiral into an avalanche of twists. And A LOT more questions- needless to say, book 3 is shaping up to be an epic conclusion to this addictive story.

"I dream about angels with white robes and talons for hands. They scratch at me, angry, accusing. I gasp against the pain. Flames lick at my skin. And all the while there's the voice, low and vibrating with fury. I could have loved you, it says."

*GASP*

After the cliffhanger that Private Property left us with, I have been salivating in getting my hands on the next installment of the Rochester trilogy. For those new to this series, it is a Jane Eyre type of retelling, and the modern gothic atmosphere mixed with the steamy tension between Beau and Jane. Aside from the romance, we have this building suspense regarding Beau's brother and sister-in-law, plus the beauty of seeing more vulnerability from our main characters as they start to work through some of the issues they have acquired from major trauma. Once again, we're left with a jaw dropping, twisty, cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to get my paws on the final installment of the trilogy!

OH MY GOD!!!
WHAT A STORY!!
I fall harder at each book!!

In this second chapter Jane and Beau have to face the aftermath of the fire that almost killed them...
It's literaly an emotional hurricane!!
Being unable to protect Paige and Jane drives Beau crazy.
On the other hand Jane is scared, but she is willing to fight for the two people who came to mean so much for her.
But everything is out of control and the past just came back asking for payment...

So.... the suspense killed me!!!
My head was spinning trying to figure it out who did what and why.
There are so many antagonists in this story and I swear i don’t know who they can trust.
And that's thanks to Skye Warren ability to plot every single details in sucha way you will be on the edge till the end of the series.

The relationship between Jane and Beau is more conflitual, due to Beau indecision/fear, but the chemestry is off the chart and the love undeniable.
And i'm ready for the last book!!
I WANT IT!!
I NEED IT!!

In the end, Strict Confidence is captivating just as Private Property, or maybe even more. It says a lot about it because usually second books in trilogies are always "less ".
And i can already tell you that this gonna be one of my 2021 best series!!

Emotions are high, feelings are tense, and suspicions are abound in the second book of this suspenseful trilogy.

We pick right up after the fire that destroyed Coach House and untangling the mystery of what happened the night Beau, Jane, and Paige almost died. Who or what possibly started the fire? Could someone be after Beau for nefarious reasons or could it be Jane that brought danger to the Rochester doorstep? There seem to be more questions than answers as the days pass, but on top of solving the case keeping Paige emotionally stable is both of their top priorities. She's already lost both of her parents and now her home and everything she ever knew is destroyed on top of what she already lost. How much else can a little girl suffer? These are the moments that will break you in two.

Added to this already tumultuous storyline, Jane and Beau also dance around their feelings once again. Beau is torn between giving in, when he feels his feelings might have caused the danger to begin with and Jane struggles to come to terms with feeling like the help and being Beau's lover now that Beau wants to put the breaks on. Uncertainty is written all over what they share which doesn't help in facing a future together. How do you put the lid on pandora's box when everything is already pouring out of it? Their feelings are raw and hurtful, but make the story that much better.

What I love best is the mystery surrounding this story, the unknown of exactly who the bad guy could be. I also love the tenacity of Paige and how resilient she is given everything she has gone through, but I'm always a sucker for children.

With a killer still on the loose, I'm excited to see how everything plays out and how it all comes together. What's going to happen? Will everyone survive?

He told me his love was dangerous. Maybe he was telling the truth. It doesn’t start fires. It doesn’t start wars. It breaks hearts. Mine feels shattered.

This trilogy is going to be the death of me, I swear. I don't know how many more twists I can handle. And even though the twist in this installment was made somewhat obvious in my opinion, it was no lesser impact. Because you know it's coming, you spend every page waiting for that other shoe to drop. And when it finally does, you get the mother of all cliffhangers. KILL MEH.

I'm so invested in this story, it's ridiculous. Jane is also starting to grow on me quite a bit, though I will say her demure personality is not my preference as a reader. She's not naive or sheltered, but she forgives too easily and I suppose I just wanted her to make the mercurial Beau work for it a little. Especially in his hot and cold, back and forth of I want you but I can't have you so I must push you away state of mind.

That aside, I devoured this book. I think this was an even quicker paced read than the first installment. There's still so many secrets left to unravel and I was glued to the pages desperate for any morsel that was disclosed. Beau, like any other Skye hero I've read, I can't get enough of. He's damaged, moody, fiercely protective, possessive, and sinfully sexy. I anxiously anticipate the conclusion especially after that doozy of a cliffhanger.

This second book was repetitive with the back and forth between the h and H. The H kept smexxing her up, then would push her away. For Her Safety. 🙄 His waffling was dizzying. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

I was annoyed because he’s a smart dude, but it seems like he’s being manipulated by his friend to send the h away. That’s not alpha. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve been expecting the “twist” since book 1.

Bottom Line? I’m moving on to book 3, but this book felt like annoying filler. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Damn Skye, just damn lololololol” <<< that’s me the minute I read the last words of this installment. I mean damn!! I should be ridiculously mad at the fact that once again I’m cut off from this story line so soon. I should be all up in the air about the fact that it is way too short and I’m tired of trilogies that barely break the surface in a storyline before they full stop! But I can’t be! Wanna know why? Because apparently Skye has decided to write the equivalent of a music concerto that moves along to a sweet melody but before you know it, it has sped up to an ultimate crescendo and then BOOM, crash as the beat of her story. So yeah, this story, no matter how short the installments seem to be, would not hold the power it has, written any other way. I’m not a writer, but it’s just my opinion.

Strict Confidence will leave you with more questions than answers. Actually, I’m not even sure we got any answers, to be honest. I am so transfixed in the words I am reading that I don’t think I once thought what the outcome would be and that is not me. I am the girl that if pushed to the edge of anxiety will flip to the end to get her fix and return to reading like nothing happened LOL but guess what? This is a trilogy so what good does that do?!?! Fucking, Skye! I love her madly, but she might need Jesus!

For me, this journey at this point is more mystery than anything else and I like it. I know you’ve read the reviews out there that tell you about the secrets and twists and whatnot so I won’t repeat all that, but I will tell you that they are not exaggerating in the least. I have zero clue what is what. I never have zero clue. I am nervous as all get out because if it is one thing I know about Skye Warren is that nothing is off limits. And on that note, I bid you farewell. Happy reading! *laughs maniacally*

Safety warnings:
- H 36 / h 19
- No cheating (between MCs)
- Mention of physical abuse
- Mention of spousal abuse
- Loss and abandonment
- Cliffhanger

We jump right back in just after the cliffhanger of book 1.

Who did it? What was the motive?

A lot more information is revealed in this one about Beau's past and what happened between him and his brother Rhys and also the whole debacle about Emily.

I wasn't shocked about some of the revelations but some of them I didn't even think about.

It was interesting though to watch a certain character be so aggressive and basically make themselves look guilty by default.

I could see why Beau wanted to protect Jane by pushing her away, but I also think he should not of let the past control him.

That ending though lol I saw the reveal coming but the fact Jane had someone waiting for her to figure it out was wild.

I wish I could say that I enjoyed this more than the first book, but it's about the same level for me. Of course, steam was great. Chemistry, too. The cliffhanger was once again crazy. Maybe book 3 will turn it around for me? Let's see! Jane Eyre is just too much of my fav. I like Skye's writing, so maybe I only need to read some other books by her.

Don’t you just love a good romantic suspense!!!

I put this book off for a long time bc I wasn’t in the right head space but now that I was in a reading slump I decided to give this a try.

Jane (fc: Weronika Zalazinska/ Crystal Reed)

I honestly don’t know what to say about her but I it does hurt me with her fears of being alone and being a nobody which is also one of my fears. She’s so caring and very patient with Paige their relationship is the best!

Beau (fc: Mariano Di Vaio)

This man is give mixed signals from left to right like MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!! You want her or you don’t! Stop leading my girl on! We get it you’re dangerous you don’t have to tell us every single time!

This book had the mystery that I liked and the romance that I love!

I need to buy book 03 now! You don’t understand!

The ending really has you confused and shocked!

The tension between Jane and Beau is so intense!
They can be something beautiful if Beau makes up his mind!

Overall 4.5/5 stars!

This trilogy is so good. I’m going to buy the last book and most likely read it a year later :D

This book also felt like I was reading but at the same time I wasn’t.

I will admit I did rush the ending and I’m kinda mad at myself for that but I was almost done and had to read the whole book…

Strict Confidence is an explosive story about lost love and found passion. Beau and Jane find themselves scrambling to figure out who they are after the fire that destroyed the house and almost ended in death.
The police are circling, clinging to past grievances, accusing and suspecting.
Poor Paige is floundering, trying to find her balance in the craziness around her, a child with too much weight on her shoulders.
Skye Warren has created a beautiful story etched in sadness, love, and the undying hope of finding a happy ever after.

“ Your love is dangerous, remember? Your love starts fires and wars. Your love is a category five hurricane.”

i loved this couple with all my heart. i love the plot. i love the relationship dynamic. my only real problem is that this book is less than 300 pages but somehow it reads way longer. i spent the whole day reading just this book and its weird... how? i can finish 800 pages on average why did this book take so long?

idk if its because of the conflict in the beginning that changed the pacing of the book or what but it bothered me that it took this long to finish it.

even though the plot is predictable, its still very entertaining. i love the smut in this too <3

Strict Confidence
(Rochester Trilogy #2)
Written by: Skye Warren

I don’t know how much darker this story can get, but with Skye Warren, you know she is going down that rabbit hole of dark, dangerous and crazy!

Everyone has survived the fire, the big question is what started it, or maybe it should be who set that fire.

While Jane is spending as much time with Paige as she can, Beau is trying to keep the police from talking to them. Beau has history with Detective Causey and he doesn’t trust the man at all.

What he doesn’t see is how much Jane is struggling, and although she is putting Paige’s well being first, she needs to start making sure she is making the right decisions for herself. Like I said, you can always count on Skye Warren making things darker, and Strict Confidence is getting there with every discussion, with every night that goes by, with every thought Jane has about her past and her future.

Will she be able to stay with Paige and Beau, and who is the lady that was walking on the beach that night? Skye Warren takes readers and teases us with hints or possibilities and when she’s done we are sitting there, mouths open and hoping everyone involved is safe.

Fear and lust and possession. It’s a form of madness, really

Ms Warren delivers a beautiful retelling of a classic, just like the original story I was invested and hooked from the first page, a captivating journey witnessing the birth of a love despite adverse circumstances, lies and deceits. Trusting the heart is the only way forward towards happiness.

The story picks up right after the fire, where book one ended leaving us with a steep edgy cliffhanger.

Beau is still fighting his feelings, despite declaring his love to Jane, he’s now taking the coward way out, putting in jeopardy this already fragile relationship. I won’t hide he frustrated me multiple times, I wanted to box him in the head, I was screaming for him to open his eyes and get his head out of his rich ass…

He also needs to deal with a past that just won’t let go, old and new enemies, who can he trust in a world so full of people so set on destroying him? While Beau tries to untangle the mess surrounding him, the pile of secrets surrounding him keeps mounting, it won’t take long before these buried truths comes to light their revelation risking everything’s built so far.

He told me his love was dangerous. Maybe he was telling the truth. It doesn’t start fires. It doesn’t start wars. It breaks hearts. Mine feels shattered

Jane is resilient and strong defying her past, her fears and doubts. Just like the original heroine of the classic novel, she acknowledges her feelings, she speaks her mind and take hold of her love. She has to fight a tough battle with a stubborn, broody surly Beau. She refuses to back down, pushing all his buttons to make his denial crumble. Even if her past is full of pain and life has never been kind to Jane, she is never bitter, she finds a kindred spirit in Paige their suffering providing a common ground to raise from the ashes.

My love is dangerous, but it’s fucking real

Told in dual POV this tale is infused with mystery till the very end, making you question everyone, keeping you guessing what comes next on each page turn, a twist you don’t see coming will close the deal on this enticing charming story. The cliffhanger at the end another painful fall into reality.

Some of the dialogues were a tad repetitive and at times the scenes dragged a bit giving the impression that the purpose was to increase the length thus filling the pages.

Regardless, the writing is fluid and the narrative is fast paced, the chemistry between Jane a and Beau raw and carnal. Overall I’m enjoying this story and I’m invested to see it till the very end. If you, like me, are a fan of Jane Eyre I really recommend to pick this up and read this steamy, passion filled and tormented retelling.

This second insallment is full of twists and emotion. In true Skye fashion, the book pushes limits and I seriously need the second book asap!!!
I highly recommend it.

Strict Confidence is the second book in the Rochester Trilogy and it immediately picks up where Private Property left off—with a raging fire and our main characters in dangerous peril. This book felt different from the first one because it felt more ominous and oppressive whereas it was previously haunting and melancholy. In my opinion, the house itself was a character. Skye Warren excels at capturing this atmosphere of "being chased or haunted by a ghost" throughout the book—similar to the events in Jane Eyre. Coach House has been reduced to ashes and someone is out to destroy all that Beau Rochester holds dear. While reading this book, I couldn't help but feel that Beau, Jane, and Paige were being pursued and hunted by something. It was quite chilling to be in the mindset of both Jane and Beau because they barely survived that fire.
"I want her, and it's not good for her. None of this is good for her. It's dangerous."

In addition to the mystery behind who burned down the Rochester's house and is trying to harm them, Jane and Beau's relationship burns hotter than ever. Skye Warren once again captures the angst, emotion, longing, and dark nature of their relationship. I definitely want more! Jane is perfect for Beau because she is innocent and submissive and he needs someone who can be his anchor to his turbulent emotions. However, the events in this book will test their relationship even further as they are being hunted by the mysterious arsonist and Joe Causey, Emily Rochester's brother. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time because I kept questioning who to trust and believe.
"People who love each other don't always end up together."

In the end, the story went off to a direction that surprised me and I can't wait to find out the conclusion to Jane and Beau's story in Best Kept Secret because this book also ends in another shocking cliffhanger. The truth has finally been revealed but what I'm most curious about is how? Either way, I adored Jane and I really like Beau even though I wanted to smack him for being an idiot at times. He kept hurting and loving Jane. Nevertheless, their relationship is also one of my favorite parts of this book as well as Paige. I adore their little family. Fans of Jane Eyre will love this adaption because Beau is a brooding hero who loves passionately and will do anything to protect Jane and his niece, Paige. I highly recommend this series!

Beau, Jane, and Paige all survive a house fire. Barely.

As they are uplifted from their home and trying to settle in a resort (that Beau Rochester emptied out for privacy) -
Beau and Jane are battling their feelings for each other. It’s a push and shove relationship that has a sprinkle of angst.

“You love me. You said you love me.”
It would be better to deny it, to claim I didn’t mean it, but I can’t quite bring myself to lie to her that way.
“It doesn’t matter. My love is dangerous. “

Why? Because Beau Rochester holds many secrets. He has many enemies. He has a dramatic past. One he feels guilty for. One that makes him feel like he doesn’t deserve to have another chance at falling in love with someone. Especially his young live-in nanny.

“ The world can’t reorder itself to make this relationship work. The boss and the nanny? No. It’s wrong, but my body doesn’t care. My heart sure as hell doesn’t care either. I want her anyway I can have her— Secret, for bidden, taboo.”

The huge mystery in this book is what happened to the house? Was it an accident? Was the house set on fire by someone else? And if so, who was in the house while they were sleeping and tried to kill them?
While the story unfolds, there are a few plot twists that I, yes, found to be predictable. But it did not take away from me enjoying this story.

As Beau becomes increasingly aware that his life is putting his nanny in danger, he starts to push her away and sends her home at the end of the book.
But was she really safer miles away from him? And that is where we get a interesting cliffhanger…
We do not have our HEA yet because another book is coming. This book is in duel POV.

Strict Confidence starts out right where Private Property ended. Mr. Rochester is still mysterious throughout and Jane is a loving and sweet girl that is drawn to him. This is the perfect combination of a romance going to go wrong.

Jane is responsible for Beau's niece and that doesn't change even though there is a sexual relationship with Beau. If anything all of these relationships seem to help Jane become a stronger and more independent woman. I always have to remind myself that she is young and still growing into her own.

Beau has a lot of secrets and although we did learn some of them in this book, I feel there are some very big ones we are still missing. The ending was a huge surprise that will take your breath away and I am excited to see how Skye will bring the last book to a close.

Strict Confidence will keep you at the end of your seat with the twist and turns of Beau's secrets and the history of his past. With Jane's sweetness and constant persistence of love for the little family, she is what will keep Beau from the darkness.

After the epic cliffhanger we were left on Beau Rochester and Jane Mendoza are back in this Jane Eyre retelling. What secrets of the past are revealed about Beau and his niece? Can Beau close off his newly beating heart to protect Jane from the past? So many secrets…eventually everything will rise to the surface. This was a well written follow up to book one and gives you some answers then leaves you with even more questions ending on a huge cliffhanger. My heart hurts for all Beau has to carry and Jane is the perfect female to help rid him of those burdens. If you love a classical mystery with a modern vibe then you will love the Rochester Trilogy. Told in dual POV

„Don’t ever leave me.”

Whether it's a myth, a fairy tale or a classic, Skye Warren writes some of the best retellings ever! And Rochester Trilogy is so captivating, shocking and deliciously dark that it's hard to put down!

This part of the series is even more suspensful and steamy than the previous one, and the riddles in this story make your head spin with possibilities. The romance between Jane and Beau continues to evolve, yet it’s still surrounded by fear, secrets and uncertainty. However, their chemistry is strongly palpable and sizzling! The tension, the angst, the mystery… this book will keep you at the edge of the seat from start to finish!

If you think that the cliffhanger in the first book was brutal, you haven't seen anything yet, lol! Fortunately, I have my instinctive reflexes under control, otherwise I would have to buy a new e-reader after every book from Skye, haha. I cannot wait for the final installment. While Strict Confidence has clarified a few things, I have even more questions after reading it!

Strict Confidence continues from Private Property, regaling us with Jane and Beau’s tumultuous relationship.

Warning: This is Book Two of the Rochester trilogy and ends on a cliff-hanger. Moreover, since this is a continuation, there may be spoilers from Book One.

Synopsis:
Beau Rochester may or may not have real feelings for Jane Mendoza but that doesn’t stop him from being or acting cruelly towards her.

And there are dark secrets in his past, an unknown entity at play, someone who wants to harm them.

Review:
The story picks up from where the previous book ended on a cliffhanger. It was endearing and irritating to see Beau behaving like an ass, again, towards Jane, even after all that happened in book one.

There’s a new character at play, someone that threatens the already fragile relationship between Beau and Jane. But they are stronger together, even if uncertainty assails their relationship from time to time, especially when the secrets of the past start to unfold.

I loved the moments between Mateo and Beau, remembering their friendship of the ye olde days. And then there’s Beau and Jane and their explosive passion. But I so didn’t expect the bomb that the author dropped about halfway through the story. I really truly did not expect it! There were so many revelations that kept me hooked.

I loved how the side characters were brought to life in this book, whether it be through the intuitiveness of the fire chief, the ex’s brother’s bullheaded ways, or the innkeeper.

What I loved more was Jane, Beau, and Paige’s family time, especially their monopoly time, which was one of the most adorable scenes I’ve ever read.

Finally, the way Beau resists Jane and yet craves her made the romance both forbidding and exciting. And this suspense is there throughout the story, eating up this little family’s life. There’s sadness too, towards the end, but I was not expecting such a huge cliffhanger. Oh, how scared I’m for Ms Mendoza.

Best Kept Secret, please come fast. Skye Warren writes such compelling characters that I can’t help but be amazed every time and with every book that I read of hers!

Thank you to Valentine PR for an e-ARC of the book.

Strict Confidence by Skye Warren is book 2 in the Rochester Trilogy. This continues the story of Beau Rochester and Jane Mendoza. So, you really should read the previous book 'Private Property' before starting this one.
The headway Jane had made with Paige has now taken a set back after the ending they had. Beau is still wanting to protect Jane and Paige which in his way leaves him acting cold toward them. There is someone out there that is looking to end and hurt Beau through any means necessary. This just like the first book kept me turning the pages and I am now left wanting more. This book does end setting us up for the next installment into their story.

Ok, just finished and I'm left thinking, say what now... I need the final instalment to know what the heck is going on now. Clearly, we could see the potential for part of this to be happening but why is it. What brought this on and what does it all mean. Pretty much it has left me asking all the questions.

A bit about the book without trying to let anything slip. So there were some great family moments. So much heartache and healing needing to occur. There was a huge push and pull between the characters. All while there was this mystery that needed to be unravelled.

Looking forward to what will surely be a gripping conclusion.

I devoured Strict Confidence in record time and I don’t know what to do while I wait for Best Kept Secret!!
In Strict Confidence, we get to know more Jane and Beau… understand them. You always end up falling in love with Skye Warren’s characters. Even if they are an Anti Hero. Beau is a complex character , a tortured soul that is conflicted between doing what is right for Paige and what his heart tells him.

“ He told me his love was dangerous. Maybe he was telling the truth. It doesn’t start fires. It doesn’t start wars. It breaks hearts.”

Skye Warren has written a powerful story-
Her words captured me from the first page and I could not put the second instalment down. My heart broke many times, I cursed and had all the feels.
Secrets, tragedies, passion … it has it all!

I'm invested in this journey with Jane and Beau so I'm gonna hold on tight because it's gonna be one hell of a ride.
Then right at the end there is a shocking cliff- hanger… be warned!
