It's rare to catch a glimpse of a real 90s supermodel these days, and even rarer - ironically - to see them take to a runway, but Helena Christensen just thrilled fashion fans as she made a surprise appearance walking the Stine Goya show at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Taking place, somewhat wholesomely, on Stine's own home street, the spring/summer 2024 collection was showcased amidst a portrayal of one of the communal street party dinners Copenhagen is famed for.
And as she closed out the show, Helena made her way down the length of the runway lined with place settings provided by the genuine resident of the street.
“My desire for this show is to encourage our audience to contemplate the significance of ‘home’ as an emotional anchor in our lives,” explained Stine, Creative Director.
“It’s a place where we find belonging, solace, and support. ‘Home’ is not confined to a specific location; it can manifest in the arms of a loved one, the laughter of family and friends, or the embrace of a community. ‘Homecoming’ is an invitation to cherish the meaning of home in all its facets - a physical shelter and a heartfelt emotional connection.”
Believe it or not, the official start of winter is only just arriving.
Showcasing a collection unknowingly much-needed by those of us who have spent the last two months complaining about such a drab and dreary summer, this was a real celebration of colour, texture, floral accents and floaty fabrication which immediately injected a sense of joy in everyone who witnessed it.
Refreshingly for a brand so adored for its bold print work, spring/summer 2024 sees a more stripped back aesthetic with only subtle florals and jacquard details accenting the offering.
“I am always looking forward,” revealed Stine. “Working on the next collection and seeking inspiration from around me. I rarely take the time to reflect on our journey as a brand. For Spring-Summer 2024 I felt the overwhelming urge to do just that.”
“Taking a moment to look back on our development and delve into some of my early styling references which really did feel like a homecoming. And while it started with reflection, this collection feels modern and fresh.”
“I naturally always lean into my love for colour and print however, it has been amazing to really explore more intricate details and finishing touches, looking at print with a more subtle approach, whilst staying true to our DNA.”
