Ulmus glabra Lutescens or the Golden Elm is a spectacular deciduous tree with pale lemon obovate shaped foliage that emerges in spring, later turning to chartreuse in summer and then to deep gold in Autumn.
Initially it will be vase shaped but as it ages it develops a more rounded canopy.
It provides excellent shade without it being so dark that other plants can't grow.
the wonderful foliage colour of this rather elegant tree makes for a good contrast with other darker leaved plants, especially in larger gardens and parklands.
