Saxifraga sancta is a evergreen perennial that forms a dense and spreading bun shaped mound of bright green rosettes with leaves around 10mm long.
The flowering stems reach around 3-5cms in height, each producing compact clusters of five or six yellow flowers with petals around 3-4mm long.
This is a vigorous and spreading species that needs harsh conditions in cultivation to make it flower well.
Very frost hardy, it suits an Alpine garden setting and also works well in pots on the patio.
