These are recent hybrids from Rhodohypoxis baurii which is is a perennial tuberous plant from the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa that has slightly hairy, grass to strap-like leaves eight to ten cms long. The mass of starry, rose-pink or white flowers in summer form a splash of colour.
As they are not fully frost hardy it is best to keep them in pots to be taken under cover in winter.
