Leptospermum Blushing Star

Leptospermum scoparium x macrocarpum

A new release in 2014. Bred in New Zealand at the Plant & Food Research Institute.

'Blushing Star'  has been selected as a variety which is particularly good at producing an abundance of flowers which smother the tops of the arching branches during the Spring months. The flowers are a soft blush pink with a deep maroon centre.

Plant in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Hardy to cold, wind and coastal conditions. Protect from harsh frost and water during dry periods when young.

In Autumn the shrub can be trimmed to retain shape, vigour and enhance the following season's flowering.

'Andromeda' has an erect growth habit. Medium to large bright pink flowers are produced in mass on long stems in mid Spring. 

Pruning after flowering has finished will ensure a good flowering the following Spring.

Hardy to both dry and cold conditions, grow in a well drained, sunny spot.

Flowering in late Spring, 'Centaurus' has cerise margined white petals that surround a dark eye with prominent cerise eyelashes! New foliage is reddish bronze which darkens as it matures. A 1.5 metre bush with a slightly weeping habit.

Incredible garden performance, flower colour seldom seen in Leptospermum, a bush whose flowering improves with age, extended vase life and far less susceptible to sooty mould.

Hardy to both dry and cold positions. Grow is a well-drained sunny spot, flowering from late Spring into early Summer. Give a light prune to shape after flowering.

Leptospermum Galaxy Cygnus

Leptospermum scorparium x rotundifolium

'Cygnus' is a picture from early Spring. It has large ruffled white flowers with green centres and a tinge of pink when young. It's an upright bush with dark green foliage, tinged blue. New foliage tips have a distinct red colouration.

'Magellan' has a compact, bushy habit with bronze new growth that turns darker with maturity. It has bright lolly-pink flower petals which have a tinge of mauve and surround a dark-centred eye and a pink stamen centre piece.

'Phoenix' is an exciting new addition to the Galaxy range. It's large deep mauve flowers are produced in mid to late Spring. It has a more compact growth habit but will ultimately reach 1.5-2m.

The intensity of Electric Red's Spring flower performance in trials made the decision to select easy. It spot flowers from Winter and in Spring, vibrant red flowers matures smother the bush - a flower show that improves as the plant matures. Prior to that, it's the foliage that's attractive taking on a blackish hue as Autumn nights cool into Winter.

Plant into a sunny spot with well drained soil. Hardy to cold. wind, and coastal conditions. Protect from harsh frost and water during dry periods when young. In Autumn, trim to around three-quarters size to retain shape, vigour and enhance next years flowering.

A great garden or border plant growing to form a tidy bush. Winter and early Spring foliage is very attractive in floral arrangements.
