Nellie was born "Pieternella Merizon" in Colijnsplaat, Zeeland, Netherlands on January 24, 1870. She was the second daughter of Adrian Merizon and Levina Breas. She immigrated to the USA in 1888 with her family at the age of 18. From that time on, she went by the name of "Nellie". The family, with their eight children, settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She married Peter Boshoven on August 4, 1892 in Grand Rapids. It was a case of two sisters who married two cousins, as her sister Lena was married to his cousin Herbert.

Peter died in 1939 and Nellie was a widow for 34 years. Nellie died on July 22, 1973, at the age of 103.

Mrs. Nellie Boshoven, aged 103, formerly of Holland Ave. NE. passed away Sunday in the Christian Rest Home.
