Micro Tina dwarf tomato (lycopersicon esculentum) Open Pollinated
Fresh seed harvested from Aug-Oct 2023
Origins: One lonely evening a rather frisky Mr. Micro Tom made advances to the lovely accepting flirtatious Ms. Sugar Tom, jumped in her root sack and voila baby Micro Tina entered the world. Well, actually Tina is a University of Florida product, a cross between Micro Tom and Sugar and was developed specifically for the International Space Station using the micro dwarf characteristics of Tom and the extra sweetness Of Sugar. "Project Dwarf Space Tomato"
My observations are that Micro Tina is better than her daddy Micro Tom in almost every way;
1. Equal if not greater yield. Thinkin' about 20-25% better.
2. Larger fruit size.
3. Less acidic and much sweeter fruit.
4. Ripens slightly earlier. (about a week)
Micro Tina is a physically larger plant than Tom but not by much, only about 8-10" tall and thrives quite well in 1/2 gallon pots or hanging baskets indoors or out.
No staking or pruning is required (hassle free) Also resistant to Fusarium wilt 1, and Gray Leafspot. All in all a great dwarf variety.
Start seeds 40-60 days before your last expected frost no deeper than 1/4" and keep moist. Ideal soil temps are between 75-85F.
Misc. Notes: Think Tina is suppose to be a determinate but, at least in this zone of 5b she keeps going until frost. First fruit maturity is 60-70 days from time of transplant.
Shipping is free via first class mail the same or next business day.
