I got this phone because I desperately a new "smartphone-ish" phone with a slide out keyboard. I've had my android phone for over a year and have learned that I'm not fan of typing on my screen. Plus the countless glitches it has were overwhelmingly irritating. I wanted to get an "older" phone without going too far back in time. This phone solves that problem. This is a phone that, I'd say is, is the link between "normal" phones and smartphones. It has 3G with web capabilities, which is nice, though still just a tiny bit slower than what I'm used to, but nothing unbearable. EASY to text with. Sure, I did kinda go backwards with a slightly less advanced phone, but it was worth it. So far, I really like this phone. The touch screen could be better; it seems to respond better to fingernails instead of fingers, which is bleh, but bearable. I didn't like how it automatically saved my sim's numbers to phone memory instead of letting me choose and then ONLY showing phone contacts. You'll have to adjust the settings to fix that, but no biggie. Yes, there are definitely features I miss from my more modern android phone, such as messages lined up in thread form instead of being in an inbox and sentbox, or the numerous downloadable apps, but it's a price I was willing to pay. This phone still has very cool features that make it a winner in my eyes, even minor things like the various ways to unlock it, or the such as taking less than a minute to start up, as opposed to my droid phone that took nearly 5 minutes to boot). So until smartphones are a little less glitchy, than this phone will be in my collection for good long time.Read full review
THE GOOD: I would give this phone a 4/5 overall. It is a nice budget phone for someone wanting a keypad and touch-screen, with lots of other options. The widgets are AWESOME...the 3 home screens is wickedly cool...it scrolls smoothly and the best thing is the MP3 Player can be playing music and I can be texting or on the internet. Also, the MP3 Player is pretty darn good! THE NOT-SO-GOOD: The one thing I am not impressed with is the camera. It is okay and does the job, but not as good of quality as I would have liked. The second thing that is the sound volume while on a call is not loud. And the only other thing I would say that doesn't impress me is the battery life...but that has been true with all 3 different types of Samsung phones I have owned.
I bought this phone because I had a Gravity II with a quickly dying battery, and feel the inclusions on the keyboard were really nice. Plus, this phone is pretty attractive for being cheap. NICE STUFF: The keyboard is still really nice and easy to use in terms of layout. The touch-screen is very responsive and has vibration feedback (vibes a tony bit to let you know it knows you touched it :P). Three homescreens is definitely nice, because I can keep certain widgets to certain screens, and change my background three times a day if I like. The widgets themselves are VERY useful. There's a free Weather widget with three-day forecast, a birthday reminder widget, calculator, bluetooth. There's SO MANY. Also, the MP3 player is truly the best I have used in a phone since I owned the Chocolate II from Verizon. Lastly, the battery on this bad boy goes for several days on a single charge, and can last through numerous long phone calls. Not true of my Gravity II which would be fully charged and literally die after one phone call. NOT SO NICE STUFF: The inherent issue with this line of phones SINCE the second installment is that the keyboard buttons lie flush with the surface of the phone, making them difficult to push if you have fat thumbs. That's also tiring if you have thumbs with really long fingernails. Sometimes the phone gets UBER laggy or backed up and you don't know if it did things, so you touch something again and it starts freaking out. Everytime I save a new contact, I have to give the phone at least thirty seconds to forty seconds to finish adding the info. Maybe it's supposed to be that way but I would think an information box would be included saying 'saving' or something. This phone is SUPER sensitive to water/moisture. If it's in the bathroom on the counter playing music for you in the shower, the humidity will make the phone hate you. Beware.Read full review
I bought this Phone because I needed to have a smartphone for a mobile office. I like everything on this phone, programs, ones I can add, the widgets, however the package I recived lacks in insructions for the Phone Specific. I have trouble with how or why to use a section, and smartphones have many.Compared to my other phone, this one is by far better, its light weight is easyer to carry and handle, its buttons are spaced great the keyboard is a huge plus. The touch screen works for me as where other phones do not. Im very satisfyed with the overall of the phone. Im sure when im learn to use I will love it.
I purchased this product because of the great price. I've always owned Samsung cell phones, so had no worries in it's quality when purchasing it. It really does have some great features and is very easy to use. Great introductory phone to anyone being introduced to having the internet at your fingertips. However, unfortunatley after using the phone for about a month and half it became very flimsy when opening it up to use the full keyboard and eventually fell apart (literally). The quality of this phone definitely does not compare to other Samsung phones I have had in the past. Very disappointed it only lasted about 2 months. Would not recommend this phone to anyone just because of the quality issues.
