To Be Held... A Home Birth Story in Video — St. Louis, MO

"There was a moment where everybody just held onto me and put a hand on me. And I could feel... just everybody's reassurance. And they just knew it was going to be OK, too.... It wasn't a fearful, like, praying for you in this, like, terrifying moment… It was like, 'We got you!' It was amazing."

St. Louis Homebirth Birth Photography and Birth Videography

When birth is approached with trust and intuition and wisdom, the most sublime thing happens; Empowerment. A feeling of being held and supported. A deep knowing of one's agency and divinity and strength.

Every birth has beauty in it. And each birth is truly unique. I will never tire of telling birth stories that unfold in every space and way, and finding the beautiful and healing moments within. But being witness to midwives and partners and mothers and daughters and sons encircling this human who is bringing life forth... watching it all unfold in the intimacy of one's own home... There's a transcendental kind of magic in that space.

This is the exquisite story of the homebirth of Asa Louise. She was born tiny, but mighty, into the hands of a skilled and intuitive midwife. Her mother labored instinctually in and out of the birth pool through the night. Her siblings excitement was palpable as they woke in the wee hours to find that the time had come to welcome her. And as the sun rose, her father made a wise and knowing suggestion that quickly brought her earthside.

Watch this birth story and be witness to the boundless love and support, the wisdom and knowledge, and the visceral emotion of this glorious birth in moving film.

It is an honor to tell the story here, and I am forever grateful to the family for sharing such an intimate moment in their personal history. Welcome, baby Asa Louise.
