Woody Allen and his wife Soon-Yi Previn were spotted out in about in their home city of New York City this week.

Allen, 87, sported a pair of his signature corduroy pants and a checkered button down shirt in a rare outing.

He wrapped a sweater around his waist during the evidently warm NYC day, and kept the sun of his skin with a brown bucket hat.

Woody walked with Soon-Yi on his arm who wore a pair of black pants, black boots, a grey sweater, and a black baseball cap.

The 52-year-old Previn also wore her cellphone strapped across her chest.

The outing was one of the first times the couple have been spotted since they were seen in Paris in the fall while Allen was shooting his 50th film, Wasp 22.

Despite rumors circulating that he intended to leave show business after the release of the film, reps for Allen confirmed shortly after that he had 'no intention of retiring.'

In an interview with Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia he was quoted as saying, 'My idea, in principle, is not to make more movies and focus on writing.'

The statement read: 'Woody Allen never said he was retiring, nor did he say he was writing another novel.

'He said he was thinking about not making films as making films that go straight or very quickly to streaming platforms is not so enjoyable for him, as he is a great lover of the cinema experience.'

It concluded: 'Currently, he has no intention of retiring and is very excited to be in Paris shooting his new movie, which will be the 50th.'

The writer and director said the plot of his latest film would be ‘exciting, dramatic and also very sinister’ and described is as something similar to the thriller Match Point, which won the Goya award for Best European Film in 2006.

In a live-streamed conversation on Instagram from June with actor Alec Baldwin - who has appeared in several of his films - the embattled writer and director alluded to his career pivot, saying 'the thrill is gone' due to a decline in the theatre-going experience.

'A lot of the thrill is gone, the director admitted. 'Now you do a movie, and you get a couple of weeks in a movie house, and then it goes to streaming or pay-per-view. It's not the same. It's not as enjoyable to me.'
