Modern Granny Square Blanket

We all love the traditional granny square pattern; it’s the first thing that many people 1st learned to crochet. It leaves many people asking the question:

What is a Granny Square Blanket?

A granny square blanket is simply lots of granny squares seamed or sewn together which usually has a border around the whole blanket.

A granny square doesn’t have to be just a collection of just 3 double crochet stitches. In fact, a granny square can be made with any stitch pattern or motif, worked in rows or in the round.

As long as it is a square, size also doesn’t matter either!

This modern granny square blanket pattern uses 8 inch squares which are joined to create a whole collection of variety. You” be trying out new crochet stitches and crochet techniques as you create your own granny square blanket.
