Oktoberfest is just around the corner, and Lufthansa wants you to start partying at 30,000 feet in the air. Starting September 18, their flight attendants will be sporting traditional lederhosen and dirndl (pictured above) on select flights between Munich and New York, Chicago, and Tokyo. Lufthansa flights with the special “Oktoberfest crew” are part of an ongoing tradition that has proven popular with passengers in past years.

The costumes designed for the flight attendants will reflect Lufthansa’s corporate colors–royal blue, yellow and white. The dirndl, for female flight attendants, is yellow with blue printed flowers and a blue and white striped skirt. Male flight attendants will wear lederhosen, combined with a janker–the traditional Bavarian jacket–and a waistcoat.

Not flying to Munich? No matter–you can still get in the mood for the annual bier-swigging festival in business class, with its Oktoberfest-only Bavarian culinary offerings like landjäger and radi (cold smoked sausage with radish), knödel with schwammerl (potato dumplings with mushrooms)—and, of course, Bavarian bier.
