Albert & Norma Geller Hillel Student Center

The Albert & Norma Geller Hillel Student Center at Case Western Reserve University provides a home away from home for Jewish students and sits in the center of the CWRU campus. Operated by the Cleveland Hillel Foundation, the Hillel building is open to students from eleven colleges and universities in the Greater Cleveland area. This gives students from all the schools we serve an opportunity to meet fellow Jewish students and create a Jewish community.

The Albert & Norma Geller Hillel Student Center opened in January 2016. In the short period of time since, we have turned our "new Hillel" into a welcoming home for Jewish students.

Today, thanks to the support of Case Western Reserve University, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, and the donors to our capital campaign, our building allows us to properly meet the needs of the growing number of Jewish students by offering the following amenities:

  • A 12,000-square foot center with lounge areas where students can relax or study, use the Wi-Fi network, and socialize with friends

  • Increased campus and community visibility with a new façade and main entrance centrally located on Euclid Avenue

  • Flexible program spaces to accommodate hundreds of students for multiple activities including weekly Shabbat dinners, holiday meals and services, social gatherings, lectures, university and community gatherings, and more

  • 3 classrooms/educational spaces for daily CWRU academic classes to increase connectivity to campus and be an integral part of the overall campus environment

  • Office space for leadership and staff

  • Kantina, a Kosher facility with dining options for both students and the general community
