Leucanthemum hosmariense ‘Moroccan Daisy’

This heat-loving perennial sub shrub is a perfect addition to an area of the landscape that is bright and sunny and has well-drained soil. Leucanthemum hosmariense is native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, thus the name ‘Moroccan Daisy’. It is one tough plant and is easy to grow. It requires little water once established and will perform best if protected from excessive winter moister.

‘Moroccan Daisy’ blooms fall through early spring, with its peak bloom season in winter. What a treat to find a plant that really puts on a show in the winter, when so many of its neighbors are resting for the season! It grows 4-12 inches tall x 12-24 inches wide. The bright sliver foliage is finely divided and creates a slightly mounding-spreading matt. The flower buds are pewter in color and look like tight little shields protecting the beautiful blossoms within. The flowers stand 4-6 inches above the foliage. These cheerful daisies have a large golden center that is composed of hundreds of tiny flowers, and these are surrounded by bright white petals, creating a delightful display.

Leucanthemum hosmariense was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding performance in the landscape. It is hardy to 10-15°F, and the Sunset Climate Zones are 14-24. We are currently growing these exceptional plants in both 4.5” pots and 1 gallon containers.
