    The well-known Calfornia Poppy - the official State flower of California - is a beautiful annual with lovely blue-grey feathery foliage and flowers borne in profusion throughout the summer. The Spanish-Californians make a highly prized hair-oil, which is said to promote hair growth, by frying the whole plant in olive oil and adding perfume. Hardy throughout the British Isles. Very quick and easy to grow and very tolerant of poor, dry soils.

    Germination Instructions

    Must be sown directly as they will not tolerate being transplanted. Sow after danger of frost has passed. Sow 1mm deep into prepared soil that has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in short drills with rows 30cm apart. Germination takes 14-21 days at 20°C. Thin seedlings to 15cm spacing by early summer.

    Growing Instructions

    Requires full sun, flowers will not open in the shade. Water well if dry.

    Cultivation Instructions

    Should flower in the first year. Cut and come again variety. Cut flowers regularly to encourage growth and to prolong flowering window. Deadhead if you do not want it to self-seed.
