I didn't know that you could grow Dahlias from seed, having only ever bought tubers at the garden centre before. I am blown away! Germination near on 100% and such a beautiful array of blooms. I will grow these from seed again. As I live in the south we should have a mild winter so I will try cutting back and leaving for regrowth next year.

Chiltern Seeds Responded on 2nd November 2022
Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you had such success growing these from our seeds, for the first time. Whilst you live in the south and usually have milder winters, we would still suggest providing some winter protection, this can be done by adding a thick layer of mulch on top. We hope you enjoy them just as much next year. The Chiltern Seeds Team

Germination Instructions
Sow indoors. Surface sow onto moist well-drained seed compost in a seed tray. Propagate at 18°C. Germination takes 10-14 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle transplant to 8cm pots, handle the root system carefully. Grow on in cooler conditions 7-13°C. Acclimatise and plant out once danger of frost has passed with 100cm spacing. Can be sown in an unheated greenhouse without propagation. Can be sown directly, germination takes 1-2 weeks approx.
Growing Instructions
Prefers fertile humus-rich well-drained soil enriched with organic matter and fertiliser in full sun. Pinch out growing tips to encourage bushy plants and stake where required. Water freely in dry periods. Prone to blackfly, treat as desired.
Cultivation Instructions
Cut flowers or deadhead to prolong flowering window. Cut back to ground level in the autumn before lifting and storing the tuber for the winter. Propagate from softwood cuttings taken in spring from stored tubers or divide tubers ensuring each one has a viable bud.
