Foxtail Millet

Setaria italica, 'Hylander'
Price: £2.75
Perfect for cutting
'Hylander' is a particularly tall variety with dense, architectural heads. 4ft (1.2m)

One for the budgerigar! Unknown in the wild, this has in fact been cultivated as a food-crop for almost 5,000 years though in this country is perhaps best known as birdseed. However, it is also a splendid and robust ornamental grass with dense, nodding flower-heads up to 12ins long. All the varieties we list are excellent and unusual accompaniments for cut flowers, or indeed on their own and are also great for drying. Don't forget to leave a few heads on the plants for the birds!
