Jenny McCarthy didn't have enough views for The View. That's why the freshman host was fired from the show June 26, says a source – along with seven-year vet Sherri Shepherd. "Jenny became afraid to say anything controversial," says the source of McCarthy, 41, who has backed the contentious claim that vaccinations cause autism. (Counters a show insider, "The View's just going in a new direction.") As for Shepherd, 47, the source says, "She wanted a lot more money." The replacement search won't be easy: "They need someone like Rosie O'Donnell, who had no fear." Indeed, the new host could be an old familiar one. The source says producers want to bring back sharp-tongued Joy Behar, 71, who exited in August 2013. Another option: adding a male voice, such as frequest guest host Bill Rancic, 43. Impending decisions aside, "Jenny and Sherri are due back the week of July 7 and will finish the season," the source adds. "It will be a weird few weeks!"

John Mayer: His reality TV pitch!
John Mayer thinks he has a hit on his hands – but it has nothing to do with music. The seven-time G rammy winner, 36, has been telling pals about his pitch for a new reality show, My Funny Friend. "His concept is: Everyone thinks they have a buddy who's so hysterical, he or she should be in comedy," a source tells Hot Stuff. "So people nominate their friends, and they go through a series of evaluations to determine if they're actually funny or not." The "Something's Missing" singer already has his ideal host in mind: celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain! Adds the source, "John says it's a show about 'dreams.' He's telling people, 'Think how much joy there is in seeing a friend happy!'" Any takers?

Katie Holmes' new crib

Location, location, location! Katie Holmes, 35, is trading her $12,500-a-month rental in NYC's artsy Chelsea for a $4 million apartment in one of the city's more family-friendly areas. The single mom of Suri, 8, "wanted more of a neighborhood for her daughter," a source tells Hot Stuff. Another perk: The three-bedroom pad is almost move-in ready. Adds the source, "It only needs a bit of work!"

Kim Kardashian to flip house

Eighteen months of renovation for nothing. Kim Kardashian, 33, and Kanye West, 37, are ready to sell their $11 million mansion in L.A.'s Bel Air before it's even finished. "Kim's over how long it's taking," says a source of the E! star, who's been bunking with Kris Jenner in Hidden Hills, California. "She wants a home closer to family."
