About This Item
COLLODI, Carlo. Pinokkio. Met Tekeningen van Jacovitti. Bewerkt door Hans Andreus. [Netherlands]: Rotogravure Pers N.V. [1967]. 4to, 256pp. Color pictorial boards. Color pictorial endpapers; color illustrations on every page. General light wear to edges, especially corners and spine ends, boards minutely rubbed, spine lightly sunned, else an internally clean, bright copy.
First Dutch edition of this Jacovitti-illustrated edition, issued 3 years after its original publication in Italian. Collodi's beloved tale of the mischievous wooden puppet who dreamed of becoming a real boy, illustrated by famed Italian satirical cartoonist Benito Jacovitti. This was the second of three times that the comic artist would illustrate this Italian classic, but this edition was the first to highlight his idiosyncratic comic style that would characterize his work in such comics as "Cocco Bill" and "Zorry Kid."
