Majestic Hotel in Barcelona
The Majestic Hotel Barcelona has been going since 1917 and on first sight of its neoclassic façade it definitely lives up to its name. The Hotel Majestic is impressive and has the one of the most privileged addresses in Barcelona.

The hotel has a luxurious feel from the moment you walk into the chandelier-adorned lobby. However unlike in many high-class establishments the staff are friendly, helpful and not in the least bit intimidating.

Majestic Hotel Rooms

The Hotel Majestic has 303 rooms, including 30 suites, and can count diverse characters such as famed writer Mario Vargas Llosa and the Dalai Lama as past guests. The classic rooms are about 20m2 and have a queen size bed, a mini-bar, a safe, internet, TV with pay per view, and marble bathrooms with hair dryer. The rooms are all decorated in a classic, luxurious style but have the modern amenities expected of a 5 star hotel. Many of the rooms also have a balcony over looking Passeig de Gràcia, which is beautiful day and night.

Hotel Facilities

A wonderful terrace at the top of the Majestic hotel
A sunny terrace at the top of the Majestic hotel with wonderful views of the city.

The Majestic Hotel Barcelona facilities include the Piano Bar which was full of well-dressed people when I visited mid-afternoon.

The Catalan Chef Nandu Jubany who has been awarded a 1 Michelin star, has created the excellent breakfast menu of “El Patio del Majestic”. He is also the current chef of Majestic Hotel Group restaurant Le Petit Comitè is located a street away from the Majestic Hotel.

There is a business centre with 5 PCs, printers, fax, shredder and photocopier. If you have forgotten any office supplies, you can also buy everything you might need.

However what makes the Hotel Majestic special, and what sets it apart from competition is the views from the roof terrace which is called La Dolce Vitae. On the terrace, you can shower whilst looking at Gaudí's Casa Batlló, swim in a pool looking out towards the sea or just relax on the deck chairs, soak up the sun and enjoy staring down at the buzzing Passeig de Gràcia below.

There is also a gym with a free personal trainer at your disposal, a pool bar, a sauna and a steam room, and you can even book a massage to help you wind down from a busy day in Barcelona.

Majestic Hotel Location

Hotel Majestic is situated on what is commonly thought of as the most beautiful and sophisticated streets in Barcelona, Passeig de Gràcia, which is also home to Gaudí's masterpieces, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. On this street you will also find high-class shops such as leather experts Loewe, and designer stores such as YSL and MaxMara, all about a 3 minute walk away.

Majestic Hotel Barcelona is perfectly situated, you are right in the centre of the city and most of the sights are within easy walking distance. Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla are a 10 minute walk, the Gothic Quarter with its beautiful cathedral is about a 20 minute stroll from the hotel. However if you are feeling lazy the Passeig de Gràcia Metro (Green Line, L3) is 2 seconds away and from there you can visit sights like La Sagrada Família. That is if you haven't had your fill of Gaudí, Casa Batlló is 2 minutes across the road and La Pedrera is up the road at no. 92.

Everything you might need is a stone's throw away. There are cash points every block, a pharmacy on next corner, and of course, shops galore. Also if you need to go further, then the hotel offers convertible smart roadsters, complete with GPS guidance systems.
