Really great paint!
I’ve made a lot of watercolor-related purchases in the past several months, so I don’t say it lightly when I say these paints are the best watercolor purchase I’ve made so far.A couple months ago, I bought Cotman tubes that did not perform very well at all. I have some maimeriBlu tubes, but they were pricey and I was looking for a high quality multi-color palette to just grab and go. Suffice it to say I’m now a fan of Rosa Gallery! I am so impressed with the quality and density of the pigment. They mix beautifully. I’m so happy that I finally found a high quality paint where the price doesn’t make me feel guilty for using it (I’m a beginner and many of my attempts end up in the trash). Overall just a really great purchase. I can’t wait to keep improving my abilities using these!

I ordered this watercolors set because it’s made in Ukraine. I was hopeful but when I received them, I was literally blown away. First of all, the packaging is great, two boxes and the metal case of great quality. I love that there’s extra space for more pans and plenty of mixing wells. Also, that ring on the back is really comfortable for holding the box (plein air, here I come).
But most importantly, the paints are absolutely awesome. They’re the easiest to activate that I’ve ever had, the colors are bright and definitely pro quality regarding the amount of pigments in them. Each pan was carefully wrapped with the info of color name, number, pigments used, lightfastness and transparency. The colors are very bright and with enough mixing practice this palette will be enough to create any type of painting.
But most importantly, the paints are absolutely awesome. They’re the easiest to activate that I’ve ever had, the colors are bright and definitely pro quality regarding the amount of pigments in them. Each pan was carefully wrapped with the info of color name, number, pigments used, lightfastness and transparency. IMO Absolute best affordable brand for beginner watercolorists!

I am a beginner watercolorist (about 6 months at the time of this purchase) and kept wasting my money (in amounts larger than this) on trendy 50+ color palettes that I later (after watching a gazillion hours of YouTube videos and reading thousands of reviews) found out are not lightfast, are full of binder that can make your pictures cloudy and chalky looking, and not very good for learning to color mix. Rosa Gallery are artist grade watercolors, they're all rated for lightfastness and they have a ton of single pigment colors for people who want to learn to color mix. Single pigment colors are less likely to make muddy mixes if you decide to mix your own, and an advantage to mixing your own colors is that you have the potential for a vastly wider range of colors with one of these pallets by learning to mix than you would even with the trendy huge pallets of convenience colors (. My original goal for my first time watercolor set was QOR. I love the way they travel and shoot across the page when you dip them on a wet page. I saw reviews comparing (especially the magenta) of this to QOR and was mindblown because it seemed to be BETTER (just explosive!) and it's also more affordable! They are absolutely vibrant! I am including a pic of my swatch sheet with all the Rosa Gallery modern watercolors (and also includes some colors from a cheaper Rosa Gallery set that had some different colors I could add to it.) In this swatch I used a lot of water because I wanted to see how the colors diluted, intermingled and "danced" with each other on the paper.

Love this set - was not sure if I’ll like it because I White Nights are nit high enough quality for me - I use mostly DS, WN pro, MGraham, daVinci professional watercolors. These are actually great - most are pro quality - transparent, high pigment density, re-wet great, smooth, creamy, behave just as expected, and are a pleasure to use; two colors (cobalt turquoise and raw umber) are lower pigment density but both a beautiful hues - cobalt is super bright turqoise blue and raw umber is german raw umber - greenish version of raw umber. If not those two colors I would place Rosa in the pro legue with top brands, but even with those two colors being slightly lower level its one of my fav sets now. I think they have some of the best cads too, im not a fan of cads, but these do not feel chalky at all. Definitely recommend.
