This Swiss Giant Pansy ‘Alpenglow’ has large 3 – 4 inch blooms that are cardinal red with a black blotch. Pansies are great performs with little maintenance, and they look great in the flower bed or in containers.
- Pansy Alpenglow grows in USDA zones 5 - 9 as an 8 - 10 binennial flower plant with cardinal red flowers.
- They mix well with spring bulbs and are great for early color. These large pansies are quite charming and old fashioned coming from Switzerland in the early 1900s. They make nice cut flowers as well.

How to Grow
Sow these seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost. Plant them in pots or trays with a quality starter mix, and cover lightly with peat moss. Then provide shade, as darkness assists germination.
Keep the seeds moist until germination, which will occur in 7-21 days. As soon as seedlings emerge, move them to a cool, bright area and continue to keep them moist.
Harden off the plants prior to planting outside. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer to feed the plants. For fall blooms, set pansies out as early as possible so they can establish roots.
