Gomphrena (Gomphrena Globosa White)
This plant is wonderfully resistant to both heat and drought, keeping its blooms and its fresh foliage looking neat and colorful through the worst heat of summer. A mass planting is a fabulous sight especially when mixed with the other color varieties that come from Gomphrena seeds!
Gomphrena Globosa plants need full sun to partial shade. They are not fussy about soil type and will even grow in very poor soils. They can glow in beds, borders, containers, pots, etc. Even though they are very drought tolerant plants, they do best with regular watering and fertilizer application. Do not use a high nitrogen fertilizer as this will just lead to excessive foliage.
Genus name comes from a Latin name for a species of amaranth that is usually grown as a dried flower.

How to Grow
Many gardeners recommend soaking Globe Amaranth seeds 24 - 48 hours before sowing as the water helps to prime the seed for germination.
Plant Gomphrena Globosa seeds either indoors, several weeks before the last frost is expected, or directly outdoors when the temperatures have warmed. If sowing Gomphrena seeds indoors, transplant the seedlings to the sunny garden spot when they are several inches tall.
If growing Globe Amaranth from flower seeds specifically for cutting, space the plants closer together to force the growth of longer stems.

These seeds germinated wonderfully and performed the same if not better than similar seeds purchased from other companies. Great germination rate. Great growth. Great flower production. A terrific value for mass planting. Pictured are several varieties, including the white and purple cultivars purchased here on Amazon. Will buy and plant again. I am in zone 6, Northeast Massachusetts.

I got so many flowers. I am drying then for dry flower arrangements. The colour is a beautiful deep purple. I am also drying the flowers for teas!!! They are so medicinal. Thank you!!!
