About this item

  • Thai Red Super Hot Pepper Seeds Heirloom NON-GMO Capsicum annuum, Chili, Spicy, Rich Flavor, Productive, 85 days.
  • SOIL temperature MUST be kept at 75-90F for proper germination!!! Cool soil, particularly at night can inhibit or significantly delay germination. Overly warm soils, well above 90F, can inhibit germination and provide ideal conditions for seed rot.
  • To keep soil temperature warm, start seeds indoors. Keep the container covered with a plastic bag on the top of the fridge where the room temperature is higher, therefore the soil temperature is good for germination.
  • Keep soil moderately moist, though not overly, dripping wet. Water soil when the soil surface just begins to dry. Allow proper air circulation for containers.
  • Once seedlings have sprouted, keep in small containers until a few sets of leaves have developed. Transplant to larger containers or outdoors. If transplanting outdoors, make sure to harden off seedlings by exposing them to only filtered sunlight for up to 1-2 weeks.

Product Description

Small peppers, big attitude! Mounded 8" plants covered with 1/2" tabasco-type fruits ripening from green to a rich deep red. Averages 200 fruits per plant. If picked clean, a colorful second crop will set just in time for your holiday decorations. Perfect for container growing. 85 days from transplant. EXTRA HOT! Peppers can be grown all year long in containers. It is suitable for apartment dwellers and gardeners who live in cool regions where the number of growing days are limited. Got about 70 to 80% germination. Simply followed the clear instructions, exactly 1/4" deep in moist peat pellets, never letting them experience any temp below 75 degrees while germinating. Take a bit longer to germinate than the many other peppers I have grown. Packet suggests 2 to 4 weeks. I saw the first sign of life peek through the peat moss at about 2 weeks.

Will report back in a few months after they have been moved to the garden and are fruiting.

High germination rate - 22 seeds out of 30 germinated. I started by placing it on a wet paper towel and put it in a ziploc bag for 10 days - making sure the paper towel stayed moist and warm. After 10 days, they started germinating and I've now moved them over to gardening soil in red solo cups with a ziploc over the cup to recreate the greenhouse environment.

First of all, there were only eleven seeds in the packet. Secondly, only two sprouts appeared. I planted jalapeño seeds the same day and sixteen days later there are two tiny and weak red pepper sprouts, whereas the jalapeños are growing beautifully. Why can’t I return this empty packet for a full refund??

While there was a pretty low germination rate (about 20%), with 30 seeds it doesn't much matter. For the record, I did pre-soak the seeds and I used a seedling mat. Heat and humidity were optimal for pepper germination, but the rate was pretty low anyhow. That being said, there were plenty of seeds so I just planted them all. Seedlings are strong and showing no signs of viral infection (unlike some other chili seeds I've bought on Amazon). Overall, decent buy.

I got my order in a timely manner. So far seedlings are doing well.

The photo was taken after 5 months. The plants are 27 inches with 3 inch chilies. The seeds take a while to germinate - some germinated after two weeks, but I had some germinate after four weeks. The germination rate for me was 63%. I can’t wait to harvest them and taste them.
Update. The plant is Beautiful; however, the chilies have no heat at all. A red bell pepper is spicier than this chili.
