Certified by the Consortium for the Protection of Caciocavallo Silano DOP, this cheese has ancient origins and It is named after its traditional shape, which resembles two teardrops or gourd-like forms joined at the top, often tied together with a piece of twine. This unique shape is thought to have inspired the name "caciocavallo".
