As far as I can tell, this plant differs mostly in that it has smaller spots and teeth though plant itself is significantly larger. Also goes under several synonyms: Aloe mutans, Aloe gracilflora, pallidaflora... and even Aloe barbertoniae by some. Flowers supposedly on taller stalks.
These two plants at the Huntington are labeled as this, but they look to me more like the type species..
