We are proud to announce Mitsis Blue Domes Resort & Spa, located on the gorgeous Greek Isle of Kos has been certified with the Travelife Gold Award for its sustainable operation, social and environmental practices. The Travelife Sustainable Certification, established by ABTA in efforts to promote sustainable practices in the travel and tourism industry. Through hard work and a detailed environmental program, Mitsis Blue Domes Resort & Spa has managed to successfully meet the 163 sustainability requirements of Travelife, which focus on the environment and society, and include the reduction of energy and water consumption; waste management; the prosperity of employees; the collaboration with the local community and enterprises; the protection of local traditions and wildlife.
Mitsis Blue Domes Resort & Spa has replaced more than 90 percent of its lighting bulbs with new technology LED bulbs. The resort produces drinkable water through the reverse osmosis method, and recycling plastic, glass, aluminum, paper, soap, cooking oil, lighting bulbs, batteries and electrical appliances. It has also stopped using plastic cups and has replaced plastic straws with the biodegradable variety. Moreover, the hotel holds reforestation activities and clean-up operations in the area’s beaches with the participation of its guests.
