Evaluating the Influence of Topography on Species Diversity, Distribution and Composition of Forests in Central Vietnam2019 •
Objectives: This study focused on evaluating the influence of topography conditions on species richness, diversity, distribution and species composition as dependent variables at different micro topographic attributes in Central Vietnam. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Trees with diameter at breast height ≥6.0 cm of 90 quadratic plots (1000 m2) were inventoried to assess species richness, diversity, and distribution. Scatterplot Matrices: Pairs-sample Test was applied to evaluate the multiple correlations between ranked elevations and slopes with dependent variables. The composition of most abundant, dominant species including Importance Value Index at the midpoint of each topographic attribute was compared with those of the entire topographic attribute. Findings: A total of 4297 tree individuals were recorded representing 122 species from 47 families. We found a significant difference of species richness, diversity, stem density and basal area in different topographic attributes (p &...

Study on the distribution characteristics of the vegetation in high elevations in Hoang Lien National Park of Vietnam2014 •
Hoang Lien National Park has a total area of 68569ha, located at an altitude of above sea 1000-3000m in the territory of the two provinces of Lai Chau and Lao Cai in Vietnam. It has a diversity of flora with 3252 species (including 775 endemic species and 236 endangered species), belonging to 1126 genera, 230 families and 6 different divisions. Due to the mountainous terrain, division diversity of Hoang Lien National Park’s vegetation is thus clearly characterized by high elevations. We have studied the distribution characteristics of the vegetation by high elevations in Hoang Lien National Park of Vietnam by the general survey methodology, fieldwork, remote sensing digital image processing and analysis and inheriting the preceding research results. The study results indicated the divisions in quantity, vegetation composition, especially differentiation of endemic and rare species in accordance with high elevations. Study results were preliminary used to suggest some orientations fo...

Tram Chim National Park is located in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam. The obtained results from the study undertaken on the composition of plant species and forest vegetation in TCNP indicated a record of 133 vascular plants species, that belongs to 54 families. Useful plants of 133 species listed consists of 38 species of medicinal plants, 31 species of edible plants, 15 species of timber plants, 10 species of ornamental plants, 9 species of industrial plants, 6 species of fiber plants and 9 species of unknown use plants, respectively. During the duration of investigation, Elaeocarpus hygrophilus Kurz, Eleocharis ochrostachys Steud. and Oryza rufipogon Griff. were endangered, threatened species in the forest vegetation of Tram Chim wetlands.

Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve is located in the tropical rainforest zone of southeast Vietnam. The obtained results from the study undertaken on the composition of plant species and forest vegetation in Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve indicated a record of 743 species, 423 genera and 122 families that belongs to the three divisions of vascular plants. These includes: Polypodiophyta, Pinophyta and Magnoliophyta. Useful plants of 743 taxonomy species listed consists of 328 species of medicinal plants, 205 species of timber plants, 168 species of edible plants, 159 species of ornamental plants, 56 species of industrial plants, 10 species of fiber plants and 29 species of unknown use plants, respectively. During the duration of investigation, Nervilia aragoana Gaudich. was newly recorded in the forest vegetation of Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Reserve. A variety of forest vegetations in the area under study is described. In this study, two major vegetation types of forest were identified in Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Reserve.

A phytosociological study of a lowland forest at the Tesso Nilo National Park, RiauA phytosociological study of a lowland forest was carried out at the Tesso Nilo National Park (TNNP), Riau. The objective of the study was to obtain quantitative data on the floristic composition and structure of the above-mentioned lowland forest. By establishing a plot of 1.0 ha, the quadrat method was used to collect the data. We recorded a total of 1,303 individuals of trees and saplings with diameters ≥ 2 cm, comprising 304 species, 153 genera, and 62 families. Using the dominance and density of two tree species, the forest community in the plot can be designated as Sloetia elongata-Pimelodendron griffithianum Association. The species sharing the dominance were Sloetia elongata (Importance Value, IV = 14.43), Pimelodendron griffithianum (IV = 6.17), Santiria laevigata (IV = 5.45) and Xylopia caudata (IV = 5.17). Diameter records showed that 80% of trees in the plot were dominated by small individuals with diameters between 10-30 cm. Trees with diameters 30 cm were Dracaena cf....
