Here’s a tribute to the Mexican brothel mother!

Yes, you read that right. Last week me and my sister went to Puta Madre. A restaurant in Gothenburg based on Mexican flavours created in a 1918s atmosphere. Let me tell you more and all about our experience!

You can find Puta Madre on Magasinsgatan in Gothenburg and it is, as above mentioned, a tribute to the Mexican brothel mother of year 1912. The restaurant itself is a whole experience. It has a very heavy, dark but yet warm atmosphere trying to mimic the idea of a 1920s brothel. Red, thick velvet curtains, porcelain, dark paintings, golden chandeliers and candles is what you’ll get to see. And its interior is a true experience on its own!

Me and my sister wanted to try their vegetarian and vegan alternatives. We chose three appetizers and two mains. The appetizers were Ceviche de coco (fresh coconut with tequila and lime marinated mango), Berberochos (chili and cilantro cockles) and Palitos (panko fried avocado with jalapeno mayonaise). They all tasted good, but we would wanted it to be more flavourful. The Ceviche was, we thought, more of an dessert than actually an appetizer. For mains we had chosen Taco Portobello and Chile Relleno. The portobello taco that consisted of fried huitlacoche (also known as corn mushroom, corn smut or Mexican truffle) and champignons, panko fried portobello marinated in white truffle and served with green pico de gallo and jalapeno mayo, was amazing and we both loved it!

Puta Madre also has a great variety of drinks and the biggest range of tequila in Scandinavia (impressive!). But since neither of me and my sister don’t drink alcohol, we chose to drink their non-alcoholic drinks of raspberry and lime/peach. instead And what about dessert? Of course we had some dessert! They bake some amazing big mouthwatering cakes! Something for the one who still got some room left in the tummy.

All in all, Puta Madre is more than a Mexican taco restaurant, it’s more of an experience and I really think this would be a great place to have a birthday dinner or business dinner with clients.
